Alice and Coraline are both young girls who are seeking for adventure. Coraline just moved to a new city and feels ignored by her parents because they are constantly working. They are both curious about what is behind the door and end up opening it. This leads them to another world. The Queen of Hearts and the Other Mother are the villains in each story. They have evil intentions and target Alice and Coraline. The Other Mother wants Coraline to stay in her world so she fills it with everything that she knows Coraline would like. At first, she seems very nice and loving but that changes once Coraline realizes her true intentions. The Queen of Hearts wants Alice beheaded simply because she didn't like her. The Queen is known for her short temper and instantly despises Alice as she enters the new world. The Cat and the White Rabbit are both animals that Coraline and Alice meet during their adventure. Coraline first meets the Cat in her world, where he is Wybie's companion. She then meets him again in the other world and figures out that he can talk. As her adventure continues, the Cat becomes more attached to her and helps protect her from danger. Alice meets the White Rabbit while she is sitting outside with her sister. He catches her eye and she decides to follow him. He leads her down a rabbit hole which takes her to the other world.

The stories begin with both characters entering another world, out of boredom in their current world. Initially, the other world seems to be perfect, but they are quickly faced with challenges throughout their journey to escape. Since both stories are fairy tales, both characters were ultimately able to return to their world and they each had their own happy ending. For Coraline, the story ended in a garden with her parents, Whybie, and her loved ones. On the other hand, Alice was finally able to escape her Wonderland when she is woken up from her so-called dream. However, no one seemed to believe their stories which led Alice and Coraline to question whether the events actually took place or if it was merely a figment of their imagination.

I feel like Coraline is a very relatable character. Coraline's situation with her parents is something I can relate to. She resents her parents for always being buried in their work which led to her taking them for granted. The only difference is that this allowed me to build a close relationship with my sister. She is also very curious, which is a trait that many kids have, and I think this trait is exacerbated by the fact that she recently moved to a new town. I can connect to Coraline in this aspect because I am easily bored. Although there are things that I like to do regularly, like going to the beach, one of my favorite things to do is going on hikes I think there's something special about exploring new places because it forces me to step out of my comfort zone. One of my favorite hikes was at Lake Tahoe with my sister.

In both stories and movies, both the main characters were curious about one thing which led them to have a journey themselves. In Alice, she started her own journey by following a white rabbit down a hole which lead her into a different world from her own which she met all different types of people and talking animals who help her guide her home. It is similar to Coraline because she went through a door in her room into a magical world that was similar to actual home but there were differences between both worlds which made her want to stay back until she realizes her own reasoning. By going into the worlds they learn a lot through who guide them or help them understanding it more

In Alice in Wonderland and Coraline, the audience is shown these two young girls who are bored with their lives and want to explore the world. In both of these animated films, there is this "tunnel" that ultimately leads them into an alternative world where they are both faced with obstacles they would have to overcome by themselves. In Coraline's alternative world, everything seems to be going too perfect for her, but once she figures out the truth behind it, it started to go downhill. For Alice, her new world was strange from the beginning. Animals were talking and she was shrinking and growing. The Queen had also wanted her dead because someone had accused her of stealing something. "Tunnels" ties in with both of these animated films because the tunnels they had gone through had put them in situations they would have to solve.

When I was young, I was a very curious/adventurous child. I had always wanted to be doing something so that I wouldn't have died of boredom. So personally, I would really relate myself with Coraline because she always has to be doing something. Her parents also don't really pay attention to her because they're always working which is something I also could relate to because my parents hadn't really paid attention to me because of their work. Also, Coraline loves to hang out with her friends which I can really relate to because my friends are what help make my life fun.

Coraline is curious, adventurous and creative which is why she is a likeable character. She had just moved to a new city and does not like it. Coraline complains about everything in her new home. She hates how old it is, the cloudy weather, the neighbors and how her parents always ignore her. She does not like change and misses her old friends. This is something that I can relate to because I fear change. I can somewhat relate to Coraline's moving situation except I was not the one who moved. One of my best friends moved across the country during middle school and it was hard for me to accept. I had to adjust to not seeing her everyday which was a big change at the time. Fortunately, we stayed in touch and she moved back a few years later. To this day, we are still best friends. Coraline had to undergo a big change so that she can grow from it. She learned to be grateful for what she has just like I learned to be grateful for the time I have with my friends.

I have a similar connection to Coraline because growing up my parents are always busy with their jobs so I didn't see them much besides the weekends. Coraline some of her traits are similar to mine because of her curiously, and her sense of being straightforward about things. As I got older I learned that sometimes being straightforward isn't a bad thing, kinda like her "bully" Wybie almost every single time they encounter each other. I do the same thing with my friends as a joke which I learned to not to take it too far.
