During the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve been trying to be productive since I need to prepare for many upcoming examinations including IELTS, SAT, and BMAT. Therefore, most of my daily routine of using social media would be educational related.
As I woke up in the morning, the first thing that I try to do every day is to take a shower; however, I instead end up with an unproductive behavior which was scrolling down the Instagram feed on my phone. As soon as I feel hungry, I find something to eat for breakfast. While enjoying the delicious meal that my grandmother cooked for me, I watched a medical documentary in English. Not only that I acknowledge how life’s like being a doctor in the hospital, but I also develop the listening skills that I could use in the IELTS listening test. When it’s 9 am, I come to my desk, study, and sit there until noon.
After having lunch, I go through text messages that I receive and reply to those messages in the LINE application. If I am not exceeding my rest time yet, I check on twitter and comment on funny memes that people tweeted. In the afternoon, I like to practice my reading skills and I did this by reading English online articles about things that I am interested in. Before the quarantine days, I go to swimming practice regularly. Despite the fact that every pool is closed, my coach held an online practice session every day in the evening via Zoom. Although it felt really strange since I and my teammates always have face-to-face interaction, this is the best option for the time being. At first, everyone found it difficult to get used to this routine; however, when everything settled, it went quite well.
After a long day, the thing that I do to unwind my stress is to watch videos on YouTube. I love watching KPOP performances as well as variety shows that idols went to. Besides, seeing people in the fandom comment funny jokes and slangs that only the fan club recognize makes me feel that I am a part of the community.
Thanks to the advancement in technology, especially the internet, I have gained so many English skills and able to communicate with my friends even during the time of lockdown.
