His actual name is *Kong, to which the Chinese respectfully added either "tse" or "fu tse", both words honorifics. "Kong fu tse" means "Master Kong." In his best-known book, a collection of his sayings called the *"Analects", many chapters begin with Tse yue, "The Master quoth..." (Yue is an antique form of shuo, "said.") It wasn't necessary in China to say who the "Master" was. East Asians have quoted Kong's saying at each other for two thousand years.
