         <description><![CDATA[<p>ANATOMICAL JOINTS</p><p>1) The PIVOT JOINT is between C1 and C2 vertebrae which helps your head turn left and right.</p><p>2) The HINGE JOINT is at your elbow or knee. It helps your knee and elbow flex and extend.</p><p>3) The SADDLE JOINT is between your trapezium carpal bone and first metacarpal bone and helps you more your wrist in a circle.</p><p>4) The BALL - AND - SOCKET JOINT is your hip joint or your shoulder joint, it allows you to move your arms and legs  whatever way you need it to.</p><p>5) The CONDYLOID JOINT is between your radius and carpal bones, it allows your wrist with flexion, extension, abduction, and adduction.</p><p>6) The PLANE JOINT is between your tarsal bone and allows all the tarsals to slide against eachother.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Members of the Sports Med Team and their Roles:</p><ul><li><p><strong>TEAM PHYSICIAN:</strong> The team physician is responsible for diagnosing the athlete’s condition and prescribing the treatment of care needed to facilitate his/her recovery.</p></li><li><p><strong>ATHLETIC TRAINER: </strong>The trainer is responsible for the prevention, management, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The trainer also works as an educator and counselor for the athletes. The trainer works on under the supervision of the team physician.</p></li><li><p><strong>PHYSICAL THERAPIST: </strong>The therapist is in charge of conducting the rehabilitation of the athlete who has had a more serious injury or surgery and has lost practice time.</p></li><li><p><strong>STUDENT TRAINER: </strong>The student trainer is responsible for assisting the head trainer in his/her duties. Students may not evaluate injuries or determine whether an athlete may return to participation.</p></li></ul><p>This has taught me all of the roles there are that go toward a team. You always see a athletic trainers but don’t see what more there is.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I can make an inference of proper treatment based on the situation.</p><p><br></p><p>If your ankle if hurting and is in need of support, you would get it taped after getting it evaluated and see if your ankle feels better. The next day if you come and say that it didn’t help then we would find another way to resolve the pain.</p><p><br></p><p>This helped me understand how to somewhat stabilize your wrist, ankle, fingers, and more. Learning this has helped me when working down at the athletic trainers office when getting athletes get ready for practices.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I can determine the various dermal and bone injuries.</p><p>Some various Dermal injuries are:</p><ul><li><p>Cuts</p></li><li><p>Scrapes</p></li><li><p>Bruises</p></li><li><p>Burns</p></li></ul><p>The 3 main bone injuries are:</p><ul><li><p>Closed Fracture- it is where the broken bone has not pierced through the skin.</p></li><li><p>Open Fracture- it is where the broken bone pierced through the skin.</p></li><li><p>Greenstick Fracture- it is where there is a small crack on the bone.</p></li></ul><p>This has taught me the differences between fractured bones and what to do when someone has a fracture. This has prepared me and helped me know what to do what someone has fractured something, it helped me when someone came into the athletic trainers office with a fracture and helped me understand what I needed to get to stabilize it.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>I can summarize the function of skeletal and soft tissue anatomy for the ankle.</strong></p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Learning the function of the skeletal and soft tissue for the ankle had helped me understand how the ankle moves and functions, it also helped me understand more about where to look when someone says their ankle hurts. For the skeletal section of the ankle I feel like a did a good job remembering all the bones since I realized color coding helps me remember important information like this. The only thing I wish we did more was to have the bones in our hands to help us see how the bones actually took like since sometimes it hard to differentiate bones on pictures.</strong></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>I can summarize the function of skeletal and soft tissue anatomy for the knee.</strong></p><p><br/></p><p><strong>This class has taught me more about the knee than Anatomy and Physiology. In Anatomy, my teacher never really talked about the knee besides the Patella and addressed the femur, tibia, and fibula separate from the knee, while this class gave me a better understanding about all the skeletal, soft tissue anatomy, and how everything works together in your knees which I loved. One thing I could have done better during this was write down what each ligament does.  I also wish we had some practice worksheets for the people that wanted them. </strong></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>I can critique movements that are associated with the knee joint.</strong></p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Critiquing movements that are associated with the knee joint has helped me learn the different test to see is your ACL is torn or not and helped me understand what to look for and how to know for sure that it is torn. Another thing that I have learned was how to measure how far I can bend my knee by using a goniometer. I liked to see the different tests demonstrated since I am a very visual learner. In my opinion, I think I could have asked more questions about how to do these movements properly and wanted to see more of what happens to the knee once the tests are done to see if there is a difference between the two.</strong></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>I can critique movements that are associated with the Ankle joint.</strong></p><p><br/></p><p><strong>A major thing I learned during this target was that you can see your gait walking pattern by looking at the bottom of your shoes that you have worn for a lot. Doing this lab has showed me that I am a supinator.  Something that I could have done better during this target was practice some of the ankle evaluations more and ask if the way I was doing them was correct but also I don’t think there was more that I needed to help me learn.</strong></p>]]></description>
