Mexico is a part of North America as a physical continent but not as a culture region because Mexico's culture has more in common with the Latin and Spanish-influenced countries that make up the culture region called "Latin America". This is why you only see Canada & U.S. for this map

Americans eat a lot wheat-based foods like bread. Food is different based on the region of America and can vary greatly based on these regions. Typically Dinner is the biggest meal of the day.

Both U.S. and Canada celebrate the Christian holidays of Christmas, and Easter as important holidays. Each celebrates Independence Day and Thanksgiving but these are on different days for these 2 countries.

Both countries were once colonized by the British. (though other European countries also established colonies within these countries too). This played a large role in the major common culture traits found throughout both countries.

Both countries also are comprised mostly of a population of immigrants. A large percentage of native Americans of both Canada and U.S. were killed when the first European settlers arrived and introduced diseases such as smallpox that the natives had no resistance to. Many also died fighting against the invasion of European settlers that arrived and began taking land from the native Americans.
