Despite the mistrust in the boer camp (British Concentration camps), the Afrikaners had achieved self-determination. Britain gave South Africa nominal independence.  This union only became fully sovereign (supreme power or authority) in 1931 when all powers Britain had over the country were abolished. They had dominion status but were not fully a colony.

Ans. The Reunited National Party won the election, for the first time in South Africa's history taking the seats away from the United party.
The main issue of the election facing the white electorate was that of race. The United Party (UP) and the National Party (NP) presented voters with differing answers to questions relating to racial integration in South Africa. The UP was in favour of a pragmatic approach, arguing that racial integration was inevitable and that the government should relax regulations, whereas the more radical leaning NP exploited white fears that they would be treated by the blacks the same way they treated them for a good few centuries. The group areas act was the title of three acts of the parliament of south Africa under the apartheid government of South Africa.  These acts assigned different residential as well as business sections in urban areas. The reason behind the Group Areas Act was to establish apartheid in the nation of South Africa and to delineate separate areas to each racial group. The Group Areas act segregated people based on race. This controlled the movement of Blacks in and out of towns and cities. It limited the category of blacks who had the right to permanent residence in urban areas. This also ties into Jim Crow Laws. These laws forced black people to live in separate areas and to use separate facilities for everything from restrooms to clinics to schools. In the 4th century, migrants from the north settled in South Africa, joining the indigenous San and Khoikhoi people. Before colonization, Africa was ruled mainly through the tribal system. In the initial encounters with the colonizers, it was not just the imposition of Europeans upon African societies. African rulers saw many benefits that came with painting relations with Europe and for a considerable amount of time, they engaged with Europeans voluntarily and on their own terms. the dutch settled in south Africa in 1652 when a dutch ship crashed at the coast. the dutch were the firs to discover south Africa but they hadn't yet colonized it and returned to their land. though, they decided to start trade with the country. they began developing a community there after 5 ships of dutch came and colonized a small part, now known as Cape Town. following the colonization, slavery and forced labor of the natives began. in 1792 the dutch went bankrupt and the British came and seized the colony. the dutch surrendered in 1795.
