In the chapter 40 Wala Day on page 337 Zelu is being chased by the kidnappers and she utilizes the Yebo personal assistant app to make called just by activating it through her voice. The app also connected with social media enabling the world to see and help her.

But the closest I got was maybe the Tesla robots being made. There have been a few cases where I have seen videos of people using human-like robots to do simple tests. Mostly agility ones. Like doing back-flips and such. There have been plenty of cases of machines used to connect certain things and do measurements. That's kind of all I can think of or find at the moment.

The story shows them as highly flexible and coordinated, almost like a single organism made of many small parts. Their actions and teamwork are the main focus, showing how advanced and smart these robots are in the world of the book. Today, scientists are creating similar technologies. Swarm robots can cooperate to explore places like caves or disaster sites. Autonomous drones and robots can navigate on their own using AI. Soft robots can bend, crawl, or squeeze into tight spaces, much like the sand robots in the story.

All this technology is seen in the book as a way for Zelu to gain her independence. Like when she found out about the self driving car she felt happy her family would not have to drive her around also giving her more freedom to go wherever she wants. Another way this is shown is when Zelu get her Exo's her family did not understand why she needed to have them and are scarred for her but she see's it as gaining freedom.

RoBoats are Large autonomous robotic vessels that operate in the ocean. They travel underwater and periodically surface in groups (“seven gigantic RoBoats surfaced from below”). They have metal hulls, lights, and extremely loud horns, suggesting industrial or surveillance-level machinery rather than simple transport. After surfacing briefly, they submerge again and disappear, leaving no trace except waves. (Chaper 21)

In Rusted Robots, NoBodies are like pure consciousness and logic with no real physical forms, and their enemies were the humes. They hated the Humes because they were in physical bodies and were almost angry that the Humes had a real physical experience of reality. NoBodies cant make their own stories because they aren't physical and just collections of information.

This connects to our own reality because AI is an algorithm of data collected from us that cannot really generate anything 'new' but recycles the information we have put on the internet throughout the years. I think that AI companies want to create ways for artificial intelligence to have physical senses like the Humes. They also want to create an AI super intelligence and gather as much data from the world as they can so in a way its like a collective hive mind of information, sort of like the Ghosts.

Emma Dinkmeyer

Ankara is similar to robots out in the world today, and example could be Ameca an engineered arts humanoid robot. This robot is responsible for school settings, elderly care facilities, and robotics/AI research. Uses multiple voice and face recognition sensors to detect human emotions and communicate through lifelike facial expressions and gestures. This is similar to Ankara in the sense that it can be used educationally to collect knowledge and teach others. This is quite the technological advancement as this robot can interact with humans without being strictly instructed, on what to say, what to do, and other basic instructions.
