Athens became a democracy. Women and Slaves were not considered citizens. Men were considered citizens at age 18. Athens had a Council of 500.
Sparta:
Sparta was on oligarch. Sparta had a Council of Elders. The Council of Elders had the real power in Sparta. The Council of Elders had the power to stop any law they wanted.

Sparta relied on farming and concurring other villages. The Slaves that the Spartan people took were called Helots. Athens Education depended on having prepared citizens. Boys were taught at home by there mothers or slaves until they were 6 or 7. Girls just helped there mother household and clean. And they married men at the age 15.
Sparta:
Sparta just focused on producing men and women to fight in battles. All kids from the age of 7 were trained to fight in wars. A man couldn't live with his wife tell the age of 30.
