We stay after school for an extra hour and a half to make up for a block that we possibly didn't choose to miss. Sometimes, students have to stay at home to help out their families, and those days will not be excused. If a student is skipping school just because they can, then that absence should be unexcused. However, if the student had an emergency or if their guardian needed them to miss that day of school, it should be excused. The youngest child is five years old, so she can not stay home from school by herself if she is sick.
