I think its important to understand that everything is copyrighted by default when created. We can never assume that it doesn't fall under some kind of copyright. So its our responsibility to find reliable recourses of material that we can use to help subsidize learning. I think one thing to note however, yes teachers can sell or post their materials. But if a material is made at school, using school equipment then the copyright actually falls to the school and not the teacher. So we need to be careful when creating content that we want to share.

Copyright is important because it protects the rights of the person who created a material and it helps teachers use legal material and avoid legal problems. At the same time we model what this practice looks like for future projects. It also helps protect my own work in case I publish some teaching material in the future.

I never really thought to much about it before. I always figured it was ok unles you are selling or profiting from a work and to always cite things. But it looks like I need to check each thing individually. It is going to be important because while a small in-person classroom setting may not have a big risk of litigation, more educators have students publish things online which are more exposed and potentially legally dangerous. I believe being well-versed in media laws will allow me to use many tools without constant fear of reprisal.

Copyright is important as it protects us and our creations from wrongful use. We all hate it when we work hard on something and it is taken for granted or stolen from us. We as teachers use it when creating materials and other things for lessons and students use it when they make their own works.

I think copyright will be very important in teaching because it helps us avoid running into legal issues and helps students also stay aware of how they are using and sharing sources. I never really looked at copyleft and thought that was cool as well! It is interesting to look at this through lenses of social media sharing as well.

Copyright is extremely important because it can protect the original work of creators whether its photos, music, videos or even lesson materials. It can ensure everyone gets credit for their ideas and that their work is not shared without permission. As a teacher it might be easy to forget that not everything is free to use, so understanding copyright helps respect the work of others.

Knowing about copyright laws will be beneficial to me so I don’t break any. I need to know what is okay to give to /share with my students that is both appropriate and free to use. I need to lead by example and not show somebody else’s work as my own.

Copyright has always been something that I have heard about, but never something I have taken seriously or looked into much. Now that I am going into education and will be using resources that were created by other people, I think it is important to learn more about copyright and what is and isn't legal for me to use in the classroom. This is important information to know because it will help keep us out of legal trouble.

I think copyright is going to be essential as a teacher. I think it is so important because we as teachers constantly use copyrighted material to teach. Without knowing copyright law, we'll almost certainly end up using something illegally and causing ourselves problems.

Copyright laws are definitely important. I'm peripherally interacting with it pretty often as a 3d printer, where I use files created by other people. As a teacher obeying copyright laws is essential to maintaining professionalism and keeping you, your school, and your students out of legal trouble that can stem from this.

Knowing about laws regarding copyright is important because teachers use media often in lessons and knowing what you can safely use in your classroom is important to keep yourself accountable. Copyright is important because it protects the rights someone has to something they’ve created. It’s also beneficial for me as a teacher to understand copyright laws so that I can know what kinds of things I’m able to put into a lesson plan without violating any laws.
