They are also based on household income which i dont agree with because some peoples family are less likely to help their childrens costs. Even students with high household incomes at home struggle as some parents are reluctant to help their children.

However with fuel increasing recently it may put commuting students from coming into uni for purely social events. I was out yesterday and someone suggested how much money they had saved this semester by not going out. E.g too good to go in the canteen gives you a £7/£8 meal for £2.70 at the end of the day. Think there should be a better method of accessing additional hardship funds instead of the 14week wait.
