The first place I stopped was were Native Americans were and how they were the start of labor for people. Their jobs were to hunt, gather and make foods as well as houses, clothing and dishes to use. Girls would make the clothing and cook the food while the boys and men would get the food and hunt. Kids wouldn't start work until around the age of 10. They worked for free and many hours of hard labor.

I then traveled two more centuries and ended up in Virginia where Europe was in their 30 year war and many servants would come to Virginia for cheap labor. The European servants were then granted passage through the colonies for their labor. Since America had many servants, their slaves were then used for field work and as domestic servants. Comment below if you have any more information on this!

I have traveled all the way to the 1800's and 1900's Modern work and labor during that time was very unfair and unsafe. It was invented because of the industrial Revolution. During the Industrial Revolution, anyone could work, kids, adults and immigrants. They worked for about 9 hours a day and got paid about 17 cents per hour to 60 cents per hour. The working conditions were gross and unhealthy for anyone working. There were almost no laws for how a company should work and it was terrible working places. This is also where many important strikes and labor battles were.

When traveling to the late 1900s it expanded so much. Many people during this time were trying to stop child labor, and many mass movements were happening at this time. These efforts were trying to give workers health benefits and provide aid to workers who were hurt or injured. They wanted better working conditions, and they started to form unions, and started to go on strikes.

When I traveled to her, it seemed very dirty. When walking into different workshops, I saw people spending entire days just working with machines, still in unhealthy conditions and barely any pay. Most work places, hired children to work, because they only had to get paid very little. They worked about 12 hours or more per day and six days a week. There were almost no laws for labor, so most companies didn't care about their workers'health and conditions.

When traveling to the early 1900's it grew so much more than the late 1800's! I'm surprised at how much it has changed. There are so many mass productions and corporations now. Many workers had now joined labor unions, and laws have been put in. There is also a lot of mechanization during this age. This was one of the biggest expansions and progressions. Many workers were also starting to ask for more safety regulations, better wages, and fewer hours.

During the mid 1900s, labor workers were trying to start unions, in order to change their work environment. They began to strike and start fights with the companies. When unions started to then form, the great depression started to become a problem. The Great depression had moved unions, and made them stronger. With people losing jobs, many of them started to join unions. This made them stronger and for people to hear them more and listen to what they have to say. This was a big step for labor unions and workers.

When I visited the 2000s, It was so cool! It's so different then I imagined. I still saw kids working, but not under the age 14, unless it was a kids lemonade stand. I went up to one of the workers, and they said they got paid at least $5.15 per hour or more. They worked for about 8 hours a day, and some jobs had the weekends off! The working conditions are very nice, and there are now laws, check ups and also inspections, in order to keep your businesses open.

Finally! I made it back to the present day and everything is the same! There are still many unions still going on to this day that have lasted years and years. The pay per hour is at least $16.75. Around 40 hours are worked per week or more. Employment on the other hand has shortened, and machines continue to take over human jobs. Many people are still unemployed, and used to get paid to stay at home! Taxes have gone up, leaving many companies having to stop working. Who knows what else can happen!!
