Generally, the big difference between the courses is that AI is almost all "applied math," meaning that all the problems are in some context of a real-world situation or model. AA is more "pure math" where you explore some math ideas that are pure math constructions, not necessarily grounded in real-life situations. So if what you enjoy most about math is the real-world applications, you might like AI better. If what you like most about math is  problem-solving, just figuring out things that are interesting, you might like AA better.
