What would you do if your boss gives you two tickets for visit a Peruvian place because you´re the best employee in the company? .Probably you will choose Machu Picchu-one of the 7 best wonders of the world or the Titicaca lake-one of the best known lakes in Peru but I recommend you to visit ´´Ampay national sanctuary´´.

This sanctuary is located in Abancay, Apurimac which is protected by a Peruvian environmental organization (SENARP) because this area has known to have a heavily forested, for two lakes called: Uskupaq´ocha and Llankasq´ocha, a snowy called ´´Ampay´´ but also old paintings made by people of Abancay. It’s located 5km to the north of Abancay to the visitor centre, followed by a 1.5 km walk.

How is the Ampay weather?

It depends of the seasons but normally is around 11°C-16°C in summer and 0°C-10°C in winter.

What can I find there?

This place is a well-known refuge for migratory birds and also provides food for some birds, so this makes able to do bird-watching.

There we can find another unique species of animals to photograph like the Andean Fox, the White-Tailed deer, the North Andean deer, the Andean gull, the amazing Andean condor, and the endemic Northern viscacha, and the Spectacled Bear.

The nature vegetation of the Sanctuary creates a lot of beautiful landscapes there. So we can see beautiful locations with: plants, blue flowers and herbs with yellow flowers, and a lot of orchids. The objective of the sanctuary is to protect a relictual species of Intimpa.

This sanctuary has two lagoons, which appearance seems like a gigantic crater, the water is so pure that the peak reflects in the lagoon.

What can I do there?

If you love do trekking you probably will do approximately 2 hours or more and find the two lakes Uskupaq´ocha(the big lake) and Llankasq´ocha(the small lake) . If you are quiet and go with a special guide, you can see the regional animals in their natural habitat.

Another activities that you can do there are fishing, go camping, go birdwatching. It’s a very good chance to relax because of the quiet and the sounds of the nature.

Conclusion
I really recommend going there, trekking in that place is an amazing adventure and I recommend it again because the vegetation and the animals there are fascinating, the sightings are incredibly beautiful and the activities are very relaxing.

BY: Olaya Orihuela, Carlos
       Román Félix, Nataly
