No, I would not consider living in such an area as there are very few amenities available in the area. Basic amenities needed for survival such as proper toilets and showering units as well as access to electricity. Bus, train stations and amenities for leisure such as shopping malls are scarce in such areas. Thus, I feel that I may not be able to carry out daily activities as well as I do when I'm living in the city.

Another reason I would not consider living in such an area is because it looked very filthy. There is no proper way to dispose of our rubbish if we live there. The lack of access to clean water and a stable food supply may have a negative impact on the health of the person living there.

However, others may disagree with me and would consider living in such an area as they provide us with more bonding opportunities with our neighbours. The tightly packed houses are perfect excuses for us to communicate with our neighbours and can ask for their help when they need it. During festive times, neighbours can share gifts with each other can learn more about different races' cultures.

In conclusion, I still would not consider living in the area shown in the video as it has little access to amenities and may not have a clean environment that is suitable to live in. Although it gives opportunities for us to bond with our neighbours, the living conditions there are not very appealing.

i wouldn't consider living in the area shown in the video. One reason is because in area shown in the video did not have any kind of public transport to transport me around, like going to school. This will be very troublesome for me as i do not have private transport to take me around. This will inconvenience me as i would need to walk to school instead which will be incredibly time consuming and tiring.

Another reason why i wouldn't want to live in the area shown in the video as there are not enough vegetation . With very little vegetation, the area would be very hot as vegetation can absorb the heat and cool down the environment. This will be especially problematic for me as i am a student and i need to focus but with the humid environment, i cannot focus on my studies. In conclusion, i wouldn't want to live in such a area.

Personally,No, i would not consider living in an area as shown in the video. comparing the usual hdb hubs and condos to the area shown in the video, the area seems cramped and interconnected along a road which is a drastic change from hdbs where there are gaps inbetween each house; where i would still be able to have my own personal space. hence, i would feel claustrophobic and the environment would overstimulate my mental capacity.

secondly, the area seems to be at an industrial part of singapore. with this assumption, i would observe to have alot of noise and air pollution. for example, cars honking near expressways and smoke released from oil buildings. this would affect my mental well-being such as how well i can sleep which would further affect my mood, behaviour and attitude throughout the day. hence, depleting my quakity of life.

however, many may consider living in an area as shown in the video as it is affordable and convenient. these shophousing areas are mainly located in central places such as chinatown shop houses where there would be many available amenities. for example, these shophouses are able to have restaurants, cafes and gyms. residents of the area are able to get to these amenities in walking distance compared to your normal hdb or condo. not only that, those whom are more sociable will be able to gain more opportunities in attaining friends and acquaintances as these houses would be interconnected.

in conclusion, no i would not consider living in an area as shown in the video as i can also gain some takeaway opportunities such as being conservative of my own personal space and respecting others boundaries.

One way is to begin an online event about a giveaway of free gardens by the bay visitation tickets for every Sunday. Since youngsters nowadays are mostly on their phones scrolling frantically on social media, if the online posters are being spammed and reposted repeatedly, youngsters whom dream of going to gardens by the bay but are financially unstable have a very high chance of coming across it. This may motivate them to touch grass and go out to spend more time in nature. Did you know looking at sceneries can help you to clear your mind and relieve itself of stress?

Another way to encourage people to spend more time in nature is to hold a GoKart game in nature. This features many good properties, as well as promotes communication, social wellbeing and sustainability. A little mental vacation in your day can also improve your outlook a lot. Parents can enjoy a better bonding time with their child instead of having them stay at home surfing the net.

I do not agree that green spaces only serve to beautify an area. I think that green spaces have a lot of benefits. One benefit is that there is a lot of spaces for physical activities. Having spaces for activities allows people to maintain a less sedentary lifestyle and allows people to exercise when one wants to. It also allows people to bond with their family members and make new friends. As for me, my mom tends to bring my brother and I to Bishan park to jog and exercise and I believe it helps us to bond and stay fit at the same time! Hence, I think that green spaces has more benefits then just to beautify an area.

Another benefit that green spaces have is that it helps people to relieve stress. As students, we might get stressed out be it by homework, academics, different commitments, and maybe just stressed overall. Taking a little walk in the green spaces allows us to admire the scenery and gives our eyes a break from electronics and work. This could invoke a sense of peacefulness and solace. Personally, every time I get stressed, I tend to go to the park and take a 15 minute walk to calm myself and get my mind off things. Hence, I think that green spaces have more then just to beautify an area.

However, I can understand why people would think that green spaces are just solely there to beautify an area. Green spaces are very nice to look at as the amount greenery is a lot and the plants and flowers can very be aesthetically pleasing to look at. Hence, I would understand why people think that greenery is solely just to be viewed to beautify an area.

In conclusion, I think that green spaces are more then just to beautify an area and that green spaces has its various benefits.

I would not consider living in the area as shown in the video.

Firstly, since there are many buildings in that area, the population there should also be high. Due to the large population, there will be a higher rate of traffic congestion, meaning that it will be harder to get around. For example, when needing to rush to a place, it will be more difficult to get there on time.

Secondly, since the population in that area is high, there will be a lot of noise polution.

Yes , i do agree that young people can do more to protect nature.

Firstly, I believe that young people can do more to protect the environment because they think that a single individual effort is incapable in solving major environmental problems such as ,global warming and climate change, and it is the problems for governments all around the globe to solve. I believe that every small action contributes to protecting the environment. Doing small sustainable practises , such as , throwing your rubbish into the bin ,not wasting our food and using a recyclable bag instead of a plastic one to carry things we can make a impact. Thus why I believe that young people can do more to contribute to the protection our environment,

Another reason why I think that young people can do more to protect the environment is due to the convenience of their unsustainable habits. Advertisements and campaigns about reducing , reusing and recycling and saving the environment might only work on teenagers for a short period of time but not in the long run and merely function as lip-service. Many teenagers also have a materialistic culture. For example , many young people like to keep up with the latest devises even though they have a perfectly fine phone this would cause them throw away their outdated devises. Therefore why i think that young people can do a better job in protecting our environment.

However, some might say that youths nowadays are already doing enough to save the environment. This is because that some teenagers nowadays make up the primary group of people who are environmental activists, going to protests and signing petitions. Doing their part in protecting the environment.

In all in all, although some teenagers do play their part in protecting the environment. Their unsustainable practises and cultures cannot be overlooked. Therefore I reiterate my stand that young people should do more to protect the environment

No, i will not consider living in an area as shown in the video.

The area in the video showed many small houses all clumped together. It gives off a very crowded vibe. There are very little greenery which also make me doubt if the air there is fresh. I would like the place where i stay into have a park or some greenery so i can take a stroll when im stressed or just need some fresh air. Hence the area in the video doesn’t seem to have either of it, so i will not consider staying there.

Moreover, there are many cars parked and driving everywhere. It’s very messy. The cars driving would also much toxic gases which can be harmful for the body and also cause air pollution . I would not like to breath in polluted air everyday as it will put my life at risk and i would much rather stay at a place with lesser housing and lesser cars that emit toxic gases and more greenery. Therefore i will not consider staying in the area shown in the video.

However, i can understand why some people would consider staying in the area shown in the video. It’s more convenient for them, be it nearer to their work place or school.

To sum up everything, i would not consider staying in the area in the video because there isnt much greenery and it’s too bustling rather than a calm peaceful place with a good environment. Hence its not the right fit for me.

Firstly ,we can encourage young people to spend more time in nature by using social media as a form of attraction.Nowadays, young people are always hooked onto their phones and using social media as a way of attracting and encouraging the young people will be extremely effective. For example, we can ask social media influencers to promote natural places such as Labrador Nature Reserve with its recreation of Long Ya Men, "Beware the Dragon’s Teeth" or Gardens by the bay.By doing so, young people will be attracted by the influencer and spend more time in nature.

Secondly, the government can conduct an event talking about green spaces and the interesting facts about them. Using this method, more people will be able to learn about green spaces and maybe take up an interest on them. For example, schools can conduct a "green space" event where students will visit green spaces around the country and learn interesting facts about them.By doing so, more young people will be able to discover new things about green spaces and visit them more often.

To sum up, i believe these methods will be perfect in attracting more young people to spend more time in nature.

Answering: Bryant

I disagree that Green Spaces only serve to beautify an area.

Firstly, the addition of sustainable living can be a benefit for Singapore. Being the fact that Singapore is the smallest country in the world, there is too little room for trials and errors, especially when it comes to polluting the environment. Therefore, living in an atmosphere with Green Spaces Features can further develop the foundation of Singapore.

Secondly, Green spaces can reduce carbon emission. Due to the large amounts of vehicles on the road, it’s no surprise that the great amount of air pollution is greatly affecting our climate system. Therefore, with the additions of Green Spaces, the reduction of carbon emissions surrounding our atmosphere would take effect.

However, some may disagree my statement in saying that Green Spaces are only installed just to beautify an area.

Brands market themselves as “Green” or “Eco- friendly”, but not much changes have been made compared to their original product. They undergo an action known as “Green washing” which causes misleading information and misunderstanding to purchasers.

In conclusion, I find that Green spaces does not only serve to beautify an area because it has many benifits to it

I think the first method is to let the government and schools strengthen education for young people, so that young people can understand the importance of protecting nature. For example: For students, most of their time is spent at school, so school education is an important way to shape their ideas. Schools can spend more time with students talking about methods of protecting nature and the importance of nature in our daily lives during morning assembly. Or for young people who have already started working, the government can hold lectures in various communities at appropriate times. I believe that with persistent efforts, young people will understand the importance of protecting nature. On the other hand, when people understand the importance of nature in our lives, they will spend more time learning and protecting nature.

The second method is to let young people spend more time in nature through social media. More and more young people are starting to like social software such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. We can promote events related to the environment and nature on these similar software. For example, the importance of protecting the environment, the harm that destroying the environment will cause to our lives, etc. When young people watch these videos and articles, they will also understand that nature is very important in our lives. In this way, most young people will spend more time on environmental issues.

In conclusion, by using social media and government and school campaigns, young people can be encouraged to spend more time in nature, and more people can understand the importance of protecting the environment.

1) No.

Point- There is alot of noise pollution.

Elaboration- Due to alot of housing situated around the vicinity, there would be a lot of citizens commuting around as well as heavy traffic, especially at peak hours, leading to a lot of noise pollution. For example, at 7 in the morning, there would be a lot of students and parents driving on the road, bringing their children to school or are on their way to work. Not to mention, there will be a lot of buses to accommodate the people without their own private vehicle to smoothen the traffic flow. Personally, my family members are all light sleepers, meaning that they are easily woken up. There was a period of time when we stayed over at my grandparent's house and it was situated near highways. Thus, this led to insufferable nights without good quality sleep due to the honking and cars speeding.

2) No facillties nearby

There is no shopping malls, MRT stations, entertainment and leisure nearby. Personally, my mom loves to shop for groceries daily, to cook meals for our family on a daily basis; and as a hobby. This serves as a inconvenience because of the long distance she would have to travel and tire her out. Furthermore, I have elderly family members in my home, whom are disabled and physically challenged. This serves as a major inconvenience, because it will cause their physical health to deteriorate.

However, others may argue that they would stay here because of the well developed infrastructure. Housing being one of the main ones there, it promotes social interaction with many people and appreciation amongst people. .

All in all however, I would not stay in this neighbourhood because of the lack of peace and many problems.

(written by Richard)

Yes. I agree that young people can do more to protect nature.

Young people have a significant impact in voicing out their opinion on today's environmental status. An example of such a youth is Greta Thunberg, who touched the heart of the world after her speech on saving the Earth. It made world leaders consider environmental impact more seriously and got many to start choosing sustainable ways to preserve nature.

Young people are more tech savvy. They can utilise this to learn more about ways to protect nature and also spread the information to others. Social media applications like Tiktok and Instagram are full of useful information about sustainability. These social medias are also full of sustainable rallies that help to voice out campaign to people with more authority.

However, some might say that youths nowadays are already doing enough to save the environment.

We can encourage young people to decorate their homes with plants in order to bring nature closer to them. Many teenagers are cooped up in their room due to their studies so most do not have time to spend outside with Mother Nature. By nurturing plants that do not need much attention such as the String of Dolphins, teenagers can have an easier time spending time with nature

Another way of getting young people to spend time is nature is to have schools host learning journeys that take place in nature such as at Singapore Botanic Gardens or at MacRitchie Reservoir. Students can enjoy the lush greenery while also learning about plant biodiversity. By having a hands-on experience, students can forge memories with their peers which can bring them closer to nature.

I disagree to a certain extent that green spaces only serve to beautify an area.

Green spaces are a great way for us to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. For example, we can go to Pulau Ubin to spend the day exploring nature. This way, we can relax from our daily city activities and have a fun experience with nature.

We can also get a good workout done in these green spaces. For example, we can head over to our neighbourhood parks to go for a quick jog or even go cycling with our friends and family or by ourselves. This way, we can keep fit and embrace the beauty of nature at the same time!

However, I find that green spaces also serve the purpose of beautifying the area. The different types of flora and fauna you can find at the parks or at reservoirs appeal to our senses as they stand out from the plain, dull coloured life that we live.

In conclusion, I still disagree that green spaces only contribute to beautify the area as they also give us a chance to relax from city life and connect with nature without any restrain.

No, I disagree. While green spaces certainly contribute to the aesthetic appeal of an area, they serve a much broader range of functions. Trees and plants absorb pollutants from the air, helping to improve air quality and reduce respiratory problems. Green spaces can also help to mitigate the effects of climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, reducing heat island effects, and providing shade.

Another benefit of Green spaces is that they can also enhance mental health as studies have shown that Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance overall mental health. Green spaces can also help with increasing residents' physical fitness as Parks and recreational areas provide opportunities for physical activity, which is essential for good health.

However, I do agree that Parks and reserves can attract tourists and provide opportunities for recreation and leisure activities, boosting the local economy. They also can foster a sense of community and social cohesion, providing places for people to gather, socialize, and participate in recreational activities.

In conclusion, I found out that green spaces do not only serve to beautify an area, they have their benefits.

I do not agree that Green spaces exist only to beautify an area but instead have practical value too.

That is because green areas have vegetation that are able to purify the air and help turn green house gases into fresh air for us to breathe. For example, the greenery that surrounds us planted near the roads and many trees around the entire island. These flora and fauna serve a crucial role as our small island produces alot of greenhouse gases from the vehicles on the road and these gases are filtered by the trees around the road. This helps maintain our optimum air quality and serves to liven up the neighbourhoods.

Not only that, having green areas around the island helps to serve the community as a place to escape the urbanized residential areas and create a community. Having greenery around such as Parks like Bishan park help to provide a common space for the community which can strengthen our sense or community and identity as people can organise routine workout with the residents in the park to breathe in clean crisp air and improve their cardiovascularhealth. It helps people reduce their stress as they walk around the parks and escape from the hustle and bustle of their day to day lives which can provide numerous health benefits.

Globally, our island is known as the greenest country in Asia. This is all the more why we should incorporate more greenery as it would attract more tourists. This would help our local economy as more tourists generate more income for businesses. This would help Singapore grow a global reputation in being green and in turn it also helps our economy.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that Green spaces do not only serve to beautify an area but provide a lot of benefits and use to the residents in the area.

One way to encourage young people to spend more time in nature is to use social media as a avenue. Currently, our fast-paced society revolves around complicated and advanced technology. Young people are therefore commonly using technology as a way of life and communication. Social media is a very big thing now amongst young adults, as it is a way to communicate with their peers and share their lives with others. We can spread environmental awareness by reaching out to a broader circle of people on multiple platforms. Since young adults are mostly on social media platforms, we can create and promote activities related to environmental protection, for them to take more action. For example, we can create a photo competition for young citizens to better appreciate the beautiful flora and fauna around us. The top 3 winners can get vouchers, cash or prizes, which will encourage them to gain knowledge on environmental protection, surrounding ecosystems and spend time in nature. Since young citizens are mostly focused on their phones, they would take part in these kind of competitions because it is conveniently an application on their mobile device.

Another way to encourage young people to spend more time in nature is to motivate them to take care of various plants; and construct a garden. With our fast paced society and differing schedules , young people are very occupied with work and studies, hardly having the time to spend time outside of their homes, or educational institutes. To conquer this problem, we can encourage young people to take up the hobby of gardening. This provides the opportunity for young people to connect with nature. Furthermore, it has been scientifically proven that greenery and plants can promote health benefits such as stress-relief and better mental health. When they are feeling overworked upon long periods of work, they can admire and appreciate the flora and fauna, improving overall well-being.

There can be many ways to persuade young people to spend more time in nature, for everybody to work towards a collective effort and protect our mother nature.

Yes, I do agree that young people can do more to protect nature. with many advertisements these days, it is no surprise that young people these days are overconsuming and buying too many products which they do not even use. Overconsumption causes people to waste a lot of resources.

Firstly, Young people have the energy, creativity and idealism to be able to drive changes. Young people are likelier to propose innovative solutions to solve environmental problems. Young people these days tend to be more creative nowadays, coming up with different solutions to try and solve problems within the community. By leveraging their unique perspectives and skills, young people can develop and implement effective conservation strategies.

Secondly, young people have access to vast resources and networks that can amplify their social impact. For example, young people now have access to applications like social media platforms and community organisations which gives them the opportunity to raise further awareness, raise support and collaborate with others in the community who shares passion to save the environment. By being more tech savvy, they also have the advantage of being more familiar with technology to the point that they know how to use apps like Instagram and tiktok to spread further awareness to the public and their followers.

However, others may argue that young people have done enough to protect nature, by taking another step to reduce their plastic usage. For example, one way I try to protect nature is to reduce my use of single-use plastics. Single-use plastics are one of the largest contributors to ocean pollution. By reducing the use of single-use plastics, I can help reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in the ocean. Single-use plastics include items like plastic bags, straws, water bottles, and cutlery. These items are used for a short time and then discarded, often ending up in oceans and other waterways. By choosing reusable alternatives like cloth bags, metal or bamboo straws, refillable water bottles, and wooden or bamboo cutlery, I am able to significantly reduce my plastic usage. Therefore, by making such a small change, I can contribute to a larger movement towards reducing plastic waste and protecting the environment.

In a nutshell, although some have contributed in trying to save nature, I believe that young people these days can do more to save nature.

No. I wouldn’t consider living in an area as shown in the video because the lack of nearby amenities and conveniences is a significant concern. It seems disconnected from essential services like supermarkets, healthcare facilities and public transportation. For example, having a long distance to school is very inconvenient and time-consuming for students like me. Hence, I would prefer to live in an area where essential services are easily accessible.

Another reason why I wouldn’t live in such area is because the lack of greenery is a major drawback for me. Being surrounded by only houses without any plants or natural elements can make the environment feel stark and uninviting. For example, without a nearby park to visit, there’s nowhere to enjoy a peaceful walk or take in some fresh air, which is something I value in my daily life. I find that trees, gardens, and parks are essential for mental well-being and quality of life. They help to improve air quality, and create a more pleasant and lively atmosphere. Without these natural elements, the area would feel disconnected and unappealing for me to consider living there.

However, some people may consider living in such area as it can be fulfilling if they value social connections and enjoy being part of a close-knit community. It offers them a support system, where neighbors are there to help each other out, which can be comforting and reassuring. For example, they can find opportunities to take part in local events and neighborhood associations.

In conclusion, I wouldn’t consider living in such area as it is very inconvenient to commute to my school and I prefer living in an area with more greenery.

One way to encourage young people to spend more time in nature is to connect young people with nature by integrating outdoor education into their curriculums. For example, students can participate in hands-on activities like planting trees, monitoring local wildlife, or conducting water quality tests in nearby streams. These experiences allow young people to actively engage with nature, learning through doing rather than just observing. Additionally, outdoor classrooms and nature-based projects can encourage students to explore natural spaces on their own, leading to a deeper and more personal connection with the environment. By making nature a regular part of their education, young people are more likely to view the outdoors as a space for learning, creativity, and exploration.

Another way is to provide young people with opportunities to volunteer in nature-based projects, such as trail maintenance, beach cleanups, or tree planting, can foster a sense of stewardship for the environment. These activities allow them to contribute to the well-being of their community while spending time outdoors. Volunteering in nature also offers a chance to develop new skills and meet like-minded peers, making it a rewarding and social experience.

We can encourage young people to spend more time in nature by advertising it on social media platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. The reason we should advertise more on these types of social media platforms is because young people spend more time on them. We can advertise them by stating how visiting the park occasionally can positively affect both their mental health and physical health and how NOT visiting can negatively affect their health. This encourages and motivates them to visit nature areas as they will be more concerned about their health and want to keep it healthy.

Another way to get young people to spend more time in nature is to get schools bring them on walks to nature areas such as Botanic Garden and Garden by the Bay. This will not only fascinate them by the beauty of nature but will also educate them on distinct types of plant species.
