I am 18 years old and I am from Venezuela. Ever since I was a kid my dream was to live in the U.S. and go to school there, I just loved the culture, the music and the language. When I was 15 my Dad told my family and I that he got a job offer here in the U.S. I could not believe it, I was so excited. I had to say bye to my family and friends, it was not easy but my dream was finally going to become a reality so I could not wait. A month passed by and I was finally living in the U.S. I was so excited about starting high school and so 2 weeks after I went to school for the first time here in the U.S. I did not know English but I thought it was going to be easy, but I was wrong. The first two months were rough, I could not communicate with my teachers nor my classmates because I did not know how to speak English; People would make fun of me because of my accent but that did not stop me I kept trying. 5 Months after my first day of school in the U.S. I learned how to speak English fluently. Three years has passed since then, now I am a senior, I have taken many AP and Honors courses, I have been rewarded multiple times and this year I am the Vice president of the Professionalism committee in Latinos in Action.
