         <title>College of William &amp;amp; Mary</title>

Older boys would study to become priests in the Anglican Church.          <title>Shoemakers Shop</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In Williamsburg, there are many trade shops. In these shops, you will see three types of people. One is the Master craftsmen. He is the one with the most experience. Then, there is he journey man. Journey men were skilled workers who did not own their own shop. Also, there was the Apprentice who  worked for free. Sometimes, African Americans were apprentices. They were trained to do the simple jobs.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Bruton Parish Church</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Anglican church was  quite important. This is because one, it was built in the center of town, and two, you could only vote if you were a member of the Anglican Church. In the church however, people sat in different seats depending on ho important you are. The governors family sat directly in front of the pulpit, if you were a member of the college you would sit at the balcony, on one side of the church, men sat, on the other side, women sat. But most African Americans stood int he back or watched from the windows.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Raleigh Tavern</title>

You could meet with others and talk, play games, eat &amp; drink, sing songs, and dance. Also, it provided bedrooms for visitors and travelers. One favorite game that many people liked was "The Royal and most Pleasant Game of y Goose" </p>]]></description>

         <title>Slave Quarters</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Almost half of the population in Williamsburg was African americans. There were many different types of slaves. One type did chores in the masters house. Others worked on plantations.  Some worked as gardeners, others as coachmen. Slaves lived in houses that were shacks, slept on beds of straw, and ate the leftovers from their masters meal. They also used songs as a way to express themselves.</p>]]></description>
