Mrs. Lacks was a wife, mother of five children, native of rural southern Virginia, and resident of Turner Station in Dundalk, Maryland.
Her life was cut short and she died on October 4, 1951
She has 3 nicknames: Immortal Heroine of Modern Medicine, Medical Miracle, and Wonder Woman.
Even today she continues to enhance many lives who are unaware of her past existence
And members of the Lacks family over the past several years have spoken at more than 100 events and still counting

The use of cells without the patient’s consent or compensation is a crime, due to the fact that people should be able to have ownership over their cells.

However, many vaccines and research have been completed, but nonetheless the family should be compensated.

There should be a law passed that clarifies the amount of compensation that companies and hospitals should give to people who’s cells (or any body part) are taken to be tested or researched. In 1952, researchers used Henrietta cells to create both Virology and the Polio vaccines. This was significant because it created a whole new way to make vaccines and eliminate diseases that can save lives. (Web.Archive)

In 1965, Genetic Hybrids were created by fusing Hela and mouse cells. This was significant because we learned the HeLa cells can mutate genetic material like animals, cells, and diseases.
