Beginning

Mercy Watson is a pig. She is loved by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Watson; they even let her inside their home. Mercy has her very own bed and is tucked in and sung to every night by her parents. One of Mercy’s favorite foods is buttered toast.

One night Mercy got afraid of her dark room, so she decided to go sleep with her parents in their bed. However, the bed was too heavy with everyone inside, so the floor began to break, and a hole appeared. Mercy’s parents decided that she needed to be the one to save them by calling the fire department. Instead of helping her parents, Mercy got distracted. She wanted buttered toast.

When Mercy could not find any toast, she began by wondering if her neighbor Baby Lincoln had sugar cookies. Baby was always nice to Mercy.

Middle

Mercy decided to walk to her neighbor’s house to investigate. When Mercy looked through the window, Baby saw Mercy but could not tell who Mercy was. Baby thought she was looking at a monster. When Baby’s sister, Eugenia Lincoln, came to help her, she decided to call the fire department. Eugenia then discovered that there was no monster; instead, Mercy Watson was at her window. Angered by this, Euginia began to chase Mercy outside, yelling at her to leave her lawn.

When the fire department finally arrived, they saw Euginia chasing Mercy, which confused them all. Baby explained to the firefighters why they were called.

Then, the firefighters heard people yelling for help, so they went next door to the Watson’s home.

Upon arriving there, they saw Mr. and Mrs. Watson’s bed hanging from the ceiling. The firefighters helped rescue Mr. and Mrs. Watson just in time; after the Watsons were safe, their bed fell through the hole completely.

End

While the Watsons were being saved, Eugenia caught Mercy. Everyone went outside to find Euginia lying on top of Mercy, huffing and puffing. Eugenia did not like Mercy being in her yard. Mrs. Watson said that Mercy is no pig but instead a porcine wonder.

Once the firefighters realized that they did not need to help anymore, they got ready to leave. Mrs. Watson stopped them and invited them over for breakfast.

Mr. and Mrs. Watson, Mercy, Baby, Eugenia, and the firefighters all ate buttered toast.

Once everybody left, Mercy was sound asleep with her parents.
