When a parent loses his or her job, or the family is going through an economic  hardship, their savings will be of great use to their family. Moreover, when they learn how to save, it’ll enable them to spend less in college, and save more for their future. Through this knowledge, they can also instill into their children what they learnt as teenagers.

From what I notice around me, most teenagers tend to waste their money on shoes and dresses.

“Less than one-third of teens are getting their allowance from parents these days, and we’re seeing a high percentage of teens working,” says DiLello. “We think it’s fantastic that so many of them are working, but budgeting skills can still be taught with a weekly or monthly allowance.”
