Donald John Trump is the 45th and current president of the United States who took office January 20, 2017. Before he became president, he was known for his success in the real estate business. His father owned a real estate company with Trump’s grandmother. The company was called Elizabeth Trump & Son. In 1971 Donald Trump took over the company and changed the name into The Trump Organization. He was for example involved in large, profitable building projects in Manhattan and he opened the Grand Hyatt New York in 1980. From that moment on he was known as the city’s best-known developer. 

But that’s not all. In 2001 Donald Trump opened the Trump World Tower, which is 71 floors high. Trump owns a couple of hundred thousand square meters of real estate. Besides his successful business life, Trump also managed to be successful as a reality tv-star. In 2003 he was the producer and presenter of NBC’s reality show The Apprentice. It is also remarkable that Donald Trump was two times nominated for an Emmy Award. He was nominated for his appearances in several movies such as Home Alone 2, The nanny and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Lastly, I think it is safe to say that Donald is jack of all trades.

It is almost as if it is a political taboo. People who suffer from obesity are most likely to get depressed or get diseases like diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The only ‘positive thing’ that the American government can get out of it is a save in healthcare, because the people with obesity have a smaller lifespan. Two third of the people in America suffer from obesity. Most people blame it on the fast-food restaurants. You can see them on every corner of the street. Besides that, it is much faster and cheaper than most of the healthy meals out there. This, in combination with the busy lifestyle in America, can lead to obesity. Other people blame it on the large portions of food. These portions are normal portions in America, but when a European tourist would get something to eat, he would consider it as a large portion. The standards are very different. Every American should take responsibility for his own lifestyle. They must be more conscious of eating healthy. It is the only way to solve the problem of obesity. The problem nowadays is that everyone following the majority when it comes to food. Thomas Frieden, the CEO of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said: “If you go with the flow in America today, you will end up overweight or obese”.

Walter Camp, who is considered to be the ‘’creator of American football’’, who instituted to change the rules on october 20th 1873. He took the rules of rugby and soccer and changed things like the size of the field and the amount of players. Early American football was an very violant sport this was caused by a lack of rules and equipment. The biggest developement was the helmet for American football. It lowered the amount of injury’s. Today is football a far safer sport then back in the days. Also a known problem was racism in the sport. First allot of teams would not even consider to take black people in the teams. A few colleges took black people. Allot of black people chose michigan state. Michigan state was well known for scouting big talents and not looking at color. In 1999 the National Football League (NFL) was founded. The NFL was the first professional football league to succesfully nationwide presence. With the influence of NFL many of American people start to watch American football and made it to a great sport known worldwide.

Malcolm X was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1925. Malcolm Little is the fourth son of in total 8 children of Baptist preacher Earl Little and Louise Helen Little. Both parents were followers of a well-known activist in the beginning of the 20th century.  They were part of the Negro Improvement Association. When Malcolm is 6 his father died, his death has always been a mystery. It was claimed he has committed suicide. The family denied this and believed that after all the threats coming from the KKK, they murdered him. When he was 13 his mother was placed in a mental hospital. After that he lived in several foster homes. Malcolm was an excellent and talented student. He has a dream to become a lawyer. His teacher than said ‘that’s not a realistic goal for a nigger’. From that, his life made a wrong turn. He quit school and went to live in New York City. There he fell into the word of criminals while earning his money by selling drugs and gambling. When twenty-one, he was sentenced to prison for burglary. In jail he discovered his love for books and for words. He also got in touch with a group named Nation of Islam and it’s leader Elijah Muhamad. The Nation of Islam was based on the Islamic religion. But there was a difference. The Nation of Islam was driven by race and based on race. So they believed that the first people in this world were black and that the white people were created as devils. When Malcolm got out of prison, he became the leader of several temples (mosques) in different cities. Not long after this Malcolm, who was tall and good looking and was always upfront, the media got to know him. He was so popular because of the fact that he talked about the problems in the daily life of black people, whereas Elijah Muhamad only talked about religion. This was one of the reasons Malcolm X decided to leave the Nation of Islam. In 1964 he went to Mecca for a pilgrimage. He was fascinated about the fact that all those people of different races, backgrounds and colors where in peace and harmony together. When he came back, he changed his mindset. He was now preaching for equality and brotherhood between all the people in America, black or white. It didn’t matter anymore to him. In 1965 he got shot by three members of the Nation of Islam. Malcolm still remains a big hero to this world.
