I really like the sort of edgy architectural photography that he displays in some of his photos. I am drawn to the detail that he is able to pick up by taking photos in black and white. I also love the drama that he portrays. He shoots in black and white, and seems to really take advantage of the contrast between shading and light. The mood is extremely dramatic and seems to put a lot of emphasis on fashion. In each photo, the outfit of the model does not go unnoticed as well as the background. This is a cool feat, especially considering it is in black and white. I really like these aspects, but I care more about the dramatic aspects and less the fashion. I plan to photograph my family (brother, dad, or mom) and some friends around cool-lit aspects of Old-town Scottsdale. These will be taken out of studio; hopefully I will be able to take them in my desired location. It would be cool if I could get the models to wear some funky clothing. It seems like, in Newton’s photos, most of the outfits are kind of radical and edgy. Another aspect of his photography which I am able to imitate. I need to learn how to paint light better. Particularly, the positioning of my model because I will be working with natural light. I will also need to get light to appear more in darkness with post-editing.
