My favorite protective factor is also family. I like to think that I am providing a loving stable supportive home for my children to grow up in. My hope is that by doing this, I am providing them with the protective factors they might need later in life. I desire to continue a close bond as a family unit throughout adolescent years and beyond. If either one of my children were to ever need help coping with something in the future, I would hope that they would feel comfortable coming to my husband or myself for advice, love strength and support.

Religion is my favorite protective factor because it gives you the strength to proceed in hard times. Hope that you will get through the struggle. Religion gives you faith that God has a reason for all things regardless of the hardship. Religion gives you this sense of belonging and a family unit that loves unconditional.

I think that my favorite protective factor is my gram, she is always there for me and listens and helps in any way that she can. My boyfriend also would do anything for me and is amazing at what he has over come. And it may seem odd but since I have no family in Redding and moved over here for someone that left me, I have to say myself as my own protective factor because I am stubborn as heck and here it is 11 years later! Even as a teen I always told myself if I get through this or that, it will make me stronger. Saying that and being stubborn I think kept me from getting into naughty things as a kid.

My protective factor is living in Seattle. I moved from Eureka, CA to here this spring. My opportunities are almost limitless. I feel so welcome and wanted and needed. This place is as beautiful as you would think. This picture is a view from a block north of my house :)

My number one protective factor is is listening to Christian music and my faith. I found that listing to music that is uplifting when I am feeling stress/anxiety or even joy my mood lightens and I am able to cope with whatever I am dealing with. Prayer and spending time reading my bible also give me an inner peace that helps me to remain focused throughout my day. My second favorite would be Disneyland with my family, which we visit often.

My strongest protective factor is my family. Their support, joy, and need for me to be my best self are what make life meaningful. I also appreciate everyone's posts reminding me of the power of prayer. My image for that would be Ammachi, Mountains, Rivers, Ocean, or Jesus, depending on the moment. These are my friends. They have helped me with so much including overcoming my addiction to alcohol. We all have tiffs sometimes but overall the love that we show each other overcomes it all. We all have very different personalities but when we come together as a unit there isn't anything we can't do!
