The more land they conquered, the more they would have to control the people in that country.Rome was also an empire which meant that all of the decisions of the country came up to one man. Today we have multiple presidents and branches that don't allow the president to have all the power. Also we still have problems today and this can be connected to Russia.

Russia wants to take back Ukraine, which became its own country on August 24, 1991.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine, 14,000 Ukrainian Citizens have died from the invasion. Power hungry people cause collapse of nations, and they want power, but now, they could contain it, unlike the Romans. This is showing how expansion is still an issue today.

Also the emperor had control of every thing which made the people of other countries, and their country miserable. Secondly, the hierarchy tells us the most of the people where slaves, or freedmen with no rights. Some were Plebians, or normal citizens, and some were Rich Equestrians or even a Patrician which is a senator, which had power and unfair influence over others.
