I used mostly rusty type colors like brown and gold as well as multiple colors around it to make it look even more steampunk-esque. On top of the piece, I added darker colors for the shadows as well as a white for the highlights to create dimension as well as the use of overlapping lines to distinguish shapes that are closer or farther.
