         <description><![CDATA[<div>Education for African Americans then- The year of 1881 was very important for African Americans. They have recently struggled to find sources of education. But then an African American man named Booker T. Washington finally stepped up and built a school to provide African Americans education. Some things that were taught were agriculture skills and economy. Booker was even president of his school until November, 14th, 1915 when he passed away.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Fighting for Rights then- During the depression of 1893 people were desperate for jobs and wealth. This brought many anger to white jobless men. This led to 1000 African American men being lynched during the 1890's. Lynched means to be murdered. this then infuriated African American journalist Ida B. Wells. Her and other activists took stand and formed a boycott. The boycotters accused the exposition committee of locking out African Americans and negatively portraying the black community.<br><br></div>]]></description>

This lead to riots and protests.&nbsp; Soon after, police officer Derek Chavin was sentenced 22.5 years in prison.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Education for African Americans now-On June 23rd 2003 The University of Michigan Law school's policy was created. This policy ruled that to this college, race can be one of many factors when selecting their students. because it furthers "a compelling interest in obtaining the educational benefits that flow from a diverse student body." The Supreme Court however, came up with a better way to decide their students by taking a look at for example their accomplishments or rewards.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1909, journalists W.E.B. Du Bois, Jane Adams, and Lincoln Steffens brought together and organized the NAACP. People were quick to help out and join this group. What they did was simply fight for African American rights. Like other organizations, they help multiple boycotts as well as protests.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During the year of 1896, a law that separated Blacks from Whites was published. It went by the name of Jim Crow laws. What these laws did were separated blacks from whites in any way you could think of. Schools, water fountains, and even bathrooms. With this being said, blacks were very limited to almost anything they did. Most stores or restaurants would have signs that said, "whites only."</div>]]></description>

He also did the unthinkable and served a whole two terms making him the first African americans to do that too. Overall this shocked the nation  with his success and showed that anyone can do anything.</div>]]></description>

What this act did was ensure that federal funds are not used to subsidize discrimination and improving accountability for other violations for civil rights and workers rights. This act was most definitely a positive for African Americans.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On October 15th, 1875 the Civil&nbsp;Rights act was overturned. The Supreme Court declared this act unconstitutional. The Court later declared that the 14th Amendment forbids states, but not citizens from discriminating. This was clearly a negative for African Americans as they would continue to be discriminated.</div>]]></description>
