My fellow PLC members, my family, and DAE know how I feel... so I feel that I have shared just about as much as I can at this current time. I don't think the district particularly cares how I feel as long as I am a warm body to be with students in a building.

Honestly, I'll be teaching the same way using Zoom and Canvas, and the students in my class will just do their work in front of me rather than at their homes. I don't see a positive to this. The way that I normally teach is with lots of group work and moving around the room-- that's not possible with Covid.

Paterson - The logistics seem messy. Why did we decide this computer-in-person thing would be good for kids? It seems like we didn't actually spend much time thinking about the actual benefit this could bring students.

Who's going to be in person, who's going to be remote? I doubt many of my students are going to select in-person based on my informal surveys

Angry, confused, worried that students will not be getting the best version of me as a teacher under this very rushed plan. I feel so helpless with my ability to make decisions. The state of North Carolina, DPS BOE and Leaders have taken away my autonomy and agency. How can I trust a district who has not invited teachers into any of the decision making processes? We sincerely do not get paid enough (I've quit my second job so that I can safely teach in person). And the district hasn't laid out any plans for how to support teachers mentally and emotionally...with PROFESSIONALS.

My kids require access to mouth movements. We have window masks. But how can they see the window masks over their computer with the glare.

How do I tell my fellow educators that they must wear a window mask when they prefer to use a double/medical grade mask. How do I balance student access with teacher safety? How are we being asked to do this?

I'm fine regarding instructional supports-- I've gotten rather good at Canvas, so I'll be zooming with all students at the beginning of class periods, and then releasing them from zoom to complete their work. For in-person students, they can talk to me about questions as they work. For online learners, they can pop back into the zoom or message me in Remind if they need support. That's my plan.

None, honestly...having never done this before, I think I'll just ask questions as I go along. Being a teacher is all I know. That is the constant I can come back to, to feel comfort and confidence.
