Even though the lyrics are in Japanese and I can't necessarily understand them, the emotion in the singer's voice comes through loud and clear. Translated, the lyrics speak of being left alone, a "canary with no reason to sing anymore / alone in its dark cage," and the soulful violin brings a deeper feeling to the song. The sound of the chorus feels as though the singer is crying for help.

The soft piano and the soft weight of the singer's voice brings life to the lyrics. Inspired by the classic children's tale "Alice in Wonderland," this song contains many allusions to it, including white rabbits and Cheshire cats. Later in the song, it's revealed (like in the story) that it was all a dream, similarly to how childhood is gone in a flash, leaving nothing but "memories for when morning comes."

I identify with the singer in the way I interact with others - while the singer implicitly refers to a toxic ex-girlfriend, the lyrics are not explicit in its meaning, which makes it more relatable for me. Many times, the song repeats "run away, run away, I'll attack" which alludes to the animalistic instincts of all creatures to attack those they deem a threat, and how it relates to human reactions. The vulnerability this elicits in me is borne of my tendency to push people away before I can "attack" them, instead telling them to run away. The lines in the bridge that say "Your promises, they look like lies / your honesty, like a back that hides a knife" hits home with the trust issues I've developed, now even unable to trust my own judgement.
