What are your concerns, if any, about returning to school?

I am concerned that there won't be sufficient materials to keep our school safe. I'm concerned other adults on campus aren't following the same precautions as myself as a high risk person with a high risk partner. I am concerned that I will go from seeing one person in the span of 5 months to up to 150 kids a day and many adults. I am worried I will get covid-not have enough sick time.

I'm concerned about testing. If we start to feel unwell, we will need to call in sick. Right now, it is hard to get tested, and the wait time for results can be up to a week! we will need to call in sick until we get that negative test result, which could be over a week o

I'm concerned that it won't be safe, that we'll start passing the virus around in the classroom, and also that it will be really hard to keep young kids socially distanced, w/masks on, and also without being able to help students w/proximity. (

- Besides being concerned about my health, I'm concerned about having to balance in person instruction for small groups, while still providing high quality distance learning for students that aren't on site that day. It seems impossible to do both.

I'm also concerned that there won't be any substitutes when teachers are ill/exposed and that will create more of a learning loss/disjointed learning.

I'm concerned that the site won't be cleaned in a safe way.

I'm concerned for the adults (like myself) who are expected to be in different classrooms and parts of the school all day. How does one establish a small group of people when in reality you are seeing everyone all the time. And for the principal, she in reality has to interact with all kids, parents, staff which is another huge risk for all involved. -emma

I have concerns about cleaning, if the district is not making plans to hire additional custodial staff. MK

I'm concerned that it will difficult for students to maintain masks on all day especially the younger ones. I'm concerned that materials, classrooms won't be sanitized properly due to lack of custodial staff. I'm concerned that students/adults with COVID-19 without symptoms will infect others. i'm afraid of a COVID-19 breakout at our school which will then affect my own family members who i care for and are high risk.

Daily deep cleaning of sites between groups, high utilization

Protected time for teachers to get our systems in place, either for distance learning, and/or whenever we do go back into the classroom. If cleaning and social distancing is needed for safety, time (instructional minutes) for that to happen. Protocols for what to do if students, family members, etc are not complying with social distancing, face masks, etc.

Do you have any questions or concerns regarding the MOU proposals from both the district and the union?

-I would like to understand what the district means when they say 4 weeks max. I know the union has been really clinging to that language and I want to understand more exactly what the district has in mind. I want to avoid "vilifying" either side during these really trying times.

Definitely concerns on the district proposal, and also the way it's being messaged to families as announcements, and not proposals.

How do you feel about the possibility of a safety strike if our MOU demands are not met?

I feel ready to strike if the district is not prepared to guarantee a safe learni
I feel really nervous about a safety strike. Our strike depended on parent support last time and I worry that we don't have it in this moment/after the last strike.

I'm ready for a safety strike if necessary; definitely there's concerns about getting parents and the community on our side, especially if they're feeling pressured to get back to work. Universal demands regarding rent, health care, sick leave, etc would be helpful in getting parent support

I feel like a strike may be necessary if those demands are not met

-not great, but might be necessary.

if it's necessary then we have to do it because the other option is going into school with unsafe conditions and risk spreading COVID to all of our families. I am ready to strike if those demands are not met to save the lives of our families.

I'm super concerned about the increased equity issues that will come up. Certain families will be able to set up learning "pods" for their kids with parents or tutors and a few friends while other kids will be in less equitable or even unsafe environments. I'm worried less about the academic losses and more about the social/emotional losses that kids face by not interacting with peers in person and not building that community in their classrooms. - emma

I think, with regards to distance learning, a lot is lost in terms of learning. Technical issues as well as not having ample face time makes teaching/learning more difficult. I am
