After half an hour of the police trying to get everyone (and beating some folks) the cops were tired and so were the people, Laura had a black eye and a broken nose, when she didn’t do anything other than standing by when the fight broke out. Then, a gunshot was heard, a man had taken a broken bottle and threatened an officer with it, he was shot in the chest, the police didn’t even try to deescalate the situation, they just shot him without hesitation.

More hours passed and it was now morning, everyone, both the people who were in the fight and the ones who decided to stay out of it, had spent the night at the cells in the station, without receiving any medical care for their injuries. The people were released with a court date to see the punishment they deserved. Laura didn’t sleep at all, she was in too much pain, when she was released she made her way to the hospital with her friends. When the day of the trial arrived she was, obviously, declared not guilty and was free to go home, but now, she faced the dilemma of suing the police department for unjust detainment and police brutality, at the end she decided to do it, and started a legal battle that is still going to this day.
