- The throne in the middle represents the interior of the throne room in the palace.
- The large amount of space means more room for the actors to utilise the space.
- The black background symbolises the grief and chaos going on and adds to the atmosphere during the scene.
- We retained certain elements of the original set design for Greek Theatre such as the orchestra, parados and also the theatron which is not drawn as part of the set.
- In terms of the architecture, it closely resembles Greek's architecture because of the pillars and stone columns, making it instantly recognisable to the audience what place this is set in.

How does it realises our Director's vision?

- The scene is very dark and gloomy, which is symbolised by the colour black used in the background of the set, which will set the dark atmosphere and mood of this scene.
- Red coloured lightings that would be used as well will show the conflicts, inner turmoil and grief of Jocasta with her shame and also Oedipus upon realizing what had happened in this scene.
- The red coloured lightings would only come on in the later parts of the scene when the conflict is peaking to create more emphasis on the drama, but throughout the scene the lighting will be adjusted bright enough so that the audience can see the play clearly against the dark background.

- This scene takes place inside the palace where the messenger was talking to Oedipus about the queen's death.
- The set design is stationary and applies throughout the scene that we focused on because the conversation between the messenger and Oedipus mainly only happened in the palace throne room.
