Prideful

Pg 148
"And we have decided to move into our house because of my father - my father - he earned it for us brick by brick. We don't want to make any trouble for nobody or fight no causes, and we will try to be good neighbors. And that's all we got to say about that. We don't want your money"

Explanation) This shows that he is prideful because he chose to stay in the house that his family paid for and because of his father hard work. He shows a lot of pride because of his father's reputation and all his hard work he had done before he died. To continue, I believe that he has good characteristic traits toward being the Man in the family and also you have to make hard decisions

Eager

Pg 33
"Yeah. You see, this little liquor store we got in mind cost seventy- five thousand and we figured the initial investment on the place be 'bout thirty thousand, see. That be ten thousand each. Course, there's a couple of hundred you got to pay so's you don't spend your life just waiting for them clowns to let your license get approved"

Explanation) The character trait of eager is a good trait of describing Walter because he wanted the check so bad so he he can invest in the liquor store. He knew the money was used to split the family equal ways. Each person in the family got a small portion of the check and had a chance to spend it their own way, but he ended up losing it to Bobo in an exchange for the liquor. One important step the money was used for was to get Beneatha to get to college so she can be a doctor.

I believe Walter is just trying to help his family out to put them in a better situation after showing where they live and where they came from he's just trying to fit what's better for them. I think Walter is a good person through his personality he has a good heart and shows care. I do care about Walter because he gets up every morning to go to work and comes back just to support his family and will do anything for them.

It also relates because you never know when the road is going to end and the diversity and struggles Walter faces connects him to the road because he never know when it will stop He tries his best to help his family but with their little jobs they have doesn't help them a lot but they depend on the checks they get every month so they can feel happy again.

To continue, in the poem states, " I walk my path through pain and hurt" and this means that all the struggles people might face they have to keep going on and overcome them. Walter's family struggles poorly, but depends on a check they get every month. This can relate to the poem because by them moving into a new house shows that they can overcome anything. It also states "I rise to form dust and stand tall" This means that any obstacles you face can help you thrive in the future.

Fight song is a good song to listen to and it relates to Walker , because the song shares advice on overcoming obstacles and believing in yourself when nobody else does. In the story Walter tries to find new ways to help his family gain money and help them out he also stood up for his family and his father when told that he had to leave the house they moved to just because of the color of their skin. An important segment in the lyrics

Post 8 - Walter - Theme, Quote, And Explanation

I use "class and money" as a theme because Walter and his family grew up in a lower class neighborhood and had a lot of problems with money and housing space. They lived in a raggedy apartment with other family sharing the same house and barely any food. A quote that supports the theme is ""Mama: “Son, how come you talk so much ‘bout money?” Walter: “Because, it is life, Mama!” Mama: “Oh—so now its life. Money is life. Once upon a time freedom use to be life—now its money. I guess the world really do change…” Walter: “No—it was always money, Mama. We just didn’t know about it.” p. 74"" This supports the theme because Walter needs money badly and is suffering with barely making it to work on time and on certain days and his family suffers terribly focusing on the checks they get every month.
