Book: Holes by Louis Sachar
Main character: Stanley
Setting: Camp Green Lake
Conflict: Stanley gets sent to a detention camp because people thought he stole shoes but he didn't and no one believed him.
Theme: Hard work pays off and honesty is rewarded
I think the setting and conflict affect the character the most as well as the secondary characters because in the begining some of the kids are being mean to him and he knows he never stole the shoes he is being accused of stealing but since no one believes him he's desperate to be let out of Camp Green Lake and he also has to dig 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep holes everyday and he's getting tired and he just wants to go home cause he never did anything.

I can't relate to Stanley in the book because he is in a detention camp and have never been to detention and also I have never been accused of stealing something when I didn't so many parts of the book are blindspots for me. But I do feel empathy for Stanley and the other characters because they have to dig holes everyday and some kids have been doing this for almost a year because you have to stay in the camp for 18 months.

My book is And Then there Were None by Agatha Christie and I think it is a window for me because none of the things happening in the story have ever happened to me and most likely will never happen to me so I am looking into another wold. I do feel empathy for the characters at some times though but I don't know exactly what they feel like because I have never been in any of the situations that happen in the book so it is a window for me and definetly not a mirror.
