Of all the different skulls around the world a dozen or so create mass septicism. Each skull differs just slightly from the last, save for them all containing jaws and similar size and shape. One skull is light blue, the other green, 2 are a darker red/ cherry colour, the last 3 are silver and white. All of these skulls exibt a very high level of quailty to the point where it is hard to tell if they have even been crafted. 
Some flaws of this 13 skulls theory is that any of the skulls out there could be the 13. There is no specific type of skull that the legend eludes to, and none of the skulls have a speical marking or style. The reason skulls are so hard to determine the age of is because of the durability of quartz, over time with a large amount of impact it can chip or crush, but is very resistant to any other damage and is easily polished to its former glory after years of neglect. The entire skepticism around the skulls is if they could have been produced thouands of years ago.  Thanks to limited knowledged of tools from milenimums ago it is hard to determine if they could have exisited back then.
The problem with this information is that there is a confirmation biasis. People want to believe that these skulls came out of the ground and could have survied burried for years with no damage. Desired because of the craftsmanship or intrique some are sought after for more then just a novelty.  There are about a dozen Crystal skulls around the world that cannot be explained as man made. Held in private collections or musems these skulls posses certian aspects others do not. The one pictured below is the most noteable clear example ever to be recorded.
One red flag of this fact is appeal to authority. Discoved by Ana Mitchell-Hedges in 1924 at a Mayan excavation site. The Skull has been dated back to the mayan era some 4,000 years ago. The intersting thing about this skull like the 13 or so others that have been found, is the craftsmanship of it. For being over 4,000 years old the technology would have been limited, and working with a difficult material like crystal to create a skull would be almost impossible.  Despite this the Skull is almost perfect, the edges are round, there is no cracks or chips, the eye sockets are perfeclty even as if it was poured out of a mold. So how was such a perfect skull made so many years ago? To this day no one knows. Please view this video for more infomation:
The issue with this video is the lack of information. Alot is said about the person who found the skull and her back ground, also why the skull is famous. Desipte this very little is said about where the skull is found or how. For examply many people claimed that when touching the Mitchell-Hedges skull that it would start to feel very warm, or freezing cold. Many believers think that the skulls were used to see into the future or read minds. Others claimed to have seen Skulls light up or change colours when experincing different moods. The red flag in this website is red herrings. There is alot of uselss info such as her father being an explorer or it being her birthday. Alot of facts distract from the actual discovery of the skull. Both of which were donated at random with no prior owners name being noted, The one skull made out of milky white quartz  actualy contains a open crainium or "empty head". The biggest red flag of this video is the mystical energy. there is alot of claims about the skull killing you if you look at it in the eyes, or it getting hot or cold in your hands. The title of the page is how crystal skulls work. That is assuming they do something other they look pretty, so the writer is already imposing his belief onto the readers, before the reader has had a chance to bring an open mind to the topic.
