The importance of writing objectives and learning targets in a language that is student-friendly is profound and integral to their learning experience. Students need to be shown what it is they are being taught and for that, they need to be shown in a manner of which they will understand. Without that student-friendly manner, a breakdown in communication can and will occur.

The challenge I encountered while completing this assignment was trying to put the learning targets into words students would have no problem understanding. Being a wordy person I find myself using large words and complicated ways of explaining a concept when it could be much more simpler and precise.

It is important to write these objectives and learning targets in student-friendly language so that the students are aware of where they should be by the end of the lesson. When students know the goal, they are more likely to work towards it. It breaks the objectives into smaller goals, in which are attainable for the students.

In this assignment, I struggled with confusing the "skill" and "knowledge" learning targets. I overcame this by thinking about words like "count," which sounds like a skill but is actually knowledge, considering many other future goals will require the knowledge of counting.

It is important to write objectives and learning targets in student-friendly language because they are not only for teachers. The learning targets and objectives are what help the students outline what is expected of them in a certain time frame. If a student is not able to understand a learning targets, the bigger picture of what is being learned becomes blurry.

I think the most challenging thing about the assignment was ensuring that the end learning targets was properly aligned with the beginning standard. It can be easy to lose the overall goal of the standard when trying to break it down into smaller objectives and learning targets. Over-simplifying the standard is no help in the end since the students will not be able to fully meet the standard. The hardest part was finding the balance of breaking down the standard enough to where it is a reachable objective, but not too much to where it loses its purpose

3- One challenge I encountered was deciding between if something was knowledge or skill because they sound a bit similar in the learning targets. The way I overcome them was re-read it multiple times until I find the key word the clicked in my brain.

It is even more important to write your objectives and learning targets in an accurate, student-friendly way to ensure that your expectations for the lesson are clear. In doing so, your students know exactly what they need to understand and learn each day to stay on track for successful progression.

Matching Bloom’s taxonomy to the learning targets was challenging for me because the concept was relatively unfamiliar. I had heard about Bloom’s taxonomy before, but I struggled with categorizing the words into the correct terms and action verbs. To overcome this, I tried to break down each learning target and put myself in the student’s place by asking what I would need to do to meet that target. I then was able to analyze the process and better understand what classification of Bloom’s taxonomy I would be using to complete the assignment.

Its important to write objectives and learning targets into student friendly language because they need to be able to understand what is expected of them. If they dont understand what is being asked they are not going to be able to put in their best work and effort.

I was a little confused about making sure I pulled out at many objectives from my standard and applied them through my learning targets. I overcame it by going through my notes and what we had done in class and through the avenues you showed us.

The challenges I had encountered while complelting my key assignment #1 was not knowing what to write for my learning targets. I knew they were "I can" statements but I wasn't sure what to write for them until I asked a friend.

It is important to write objectives in student friendly language because your students are the ones you are teaching. The objectives and standards are all written out to ensure that all students stay on their learning path throughout k-12. Also as a student myself I can say some of these objectives are very difficult to break down and understand.

It has been very difficult for me to break down each standard and write out objectives. I know with time it will be easier for me, but for now I need more practice.

Students need to feel included and acknowledged in their own learning process--if they don't know what they are working towards and why, they are less likely to want to engage with the content in a meaningful way. Having objectives and learning targets that are not understandable to them shows them that their role in the process of learning is not important to the teacher. On the other hand, having learning targets that are friendly for students allows them to feel less stress as they know what is expected of them, makes them feel generally more in charge of their own learning, and gives them a strong sense of what direction they can take to improve.

The aspect of this key assignment that I found most challenging was familiarizing myself with the organization of the standards. The way that the standards were broken apart was different from anything I had seen in class prior. The primary difference was the organization by proficiency levels; I had to be very careful to keep everything I was writing on the same level of proficiency. Apart from the main standards, which reflected general competency in broad areas (intercultural, interpersonal, and presentational communication, as well as interpretive reading/listening), there were several performance indicators for each proficiency level, which were marked similarly to a standard and written like an "I can" statement. Apart from the main standard I was writing objectives for, I also needed to take into consideration the three separate performance indicators and their various areas of application (in this case, writing and speaking). All of this made for a more complex collection of information to consider when writing objectives that reached deeper than simply analyzing the main objective. To get past this, I first needed to decide which proficiency level to focus my objectives on. As I am currently at an "advanced low" proficiency, I thought it would be easiest to write suitable objectives for the "intermediate mid" proficiency, so that they would still be fairly complex, but I also would have my real world experience acquiring the language to aid me. Then, I looked at the three different performance indicators for the intermediate mid proficiency level in my chosen standard and tried to write one objective based on each performance indicator. Then, when writing all of my "I can" statements, I used the sample learning targets provided with the standards to aid me, focusing one "I can" statement on writing skills and the other on speaking skills. Once I had organized it this way, I was able to come up with a satisfying product that incorporated all of these elements.

2) Standards in all grade levels are written in very complex and hard ways to understand, once they are broken down into a more kid friendly way it gives them better understanding. Once they have a better understanding they will be able to break it down into their own “I can” statements and learn the content to the best of their abilities.

3) My challenges with Key Assignment 1 was probably trying to make multiple objectives for one standard. This made it difficult because Iran out of ways to rephrase the standard I chose. I was able to overcome this b reading more into the standard on the KY standards website and being able to understand more of what kids had to accomplish such as strategies and mental memorization.

2.) It is important to write objectives and learning targets in student-friendly language so it's easier for the students to understand. Many standards and objectives are very confusing and contain a lot of criteria, so writing the learning targets in student-friendly language not only helps the students understand better, but the teachers too.

3.) I struggled a little bit with the learning targets. After I wrote them I realized they were too confusing for the grade level I was writing them for (3rd Grade) and I needed to change them to make them easier to read.

3- I found it challenging to find multiple learning targets for an objective. I tended to be to general what I first wrote them and I had to go back and rethink, then I ended up with better learning targets!

It is important to use student friendly language because students having objectives and learning targets that they can easily understand helps them learn the content.

The main challenge I encountered was actually getting three objectives from a single standard. I understand that not every objective doesn't need three, but it really took me a while to figure three out.
