The Roman citizens(women not included) were given many opportunities to have a say in how their city ruled, but Rome wasn't considered a true democracy.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Roman Branches of Government</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. In the beginning, all officials came from the patricians, who were wealthy and rich. The poor/ middle class citizens, soon started to feel left out, and this is what started the group Plebeians.<br>2. There were three branches of the Government. Consuls, Senators, and Assemblies.<br>3. Consuls represented the Monarchical Branch, who continued to carry on the functions of the former kings. The Senate represented the Aristocratic Branch, who were the advisers for the Roman Government. The Assemblies represented the Democratic Branch. There were two types of Assemblies, the Centuries and the Tribes. The Assembly of Centuries, were made up of all members of the army, they also were the ones who elected consuls annually. While the Assembly of Tribes was composed of all citizens, and they were the ones who approved or rejected laws and decided the issues of war and peace.</div>]]></description>
