The Chaparral is composed of broad leaf evergreen shrubs, bushes, and small trees. Because of the long period of dryness over the summer, Only plants with hard leaves can survive. Many of the leaves are hairy so they can collect the moisture out of the air and use it. During the Summer, the Chaparral biome has a lot of fires because of the heat and dryness, so some plants have adapted to the fires. The plants adapt to the fire because their seeds lie dormant until the fire comes. Their seed casings will crack and the seed will sprout only then.
