The make-up of the Caribbean society is prevalent in recent time as men tend to obtain jobs that are more important than those jobs obtained by women. However, there is change where women are procuring more important jobs that would be considered a man’s job. Additionally, in the Caribbean, the mindset still remains that women are responsible not only for reproducing but also nurturing and being obedient according to Christian teachings and the men are responsible for go out to work and providing for the family. Furthermore, women are criticized for promiscuous behaviour and are to be held accountable for their actions as opposed to men who are considered victims of theirs desires.

This particular part of this course helped me further understand the Caribbean society and understand the environment that I live in. it also helps to form my own opinions of what I may agree or disagree with based on the type of society created from the different events that has been experienced throughout Caribbean history. 

Children are encouraged by their parents to get an education so that they can move out from poverty and climb the social ladder. In the video it is also mentioned that the education system teaches individuals the ways of the current system of the working world. This is important as it gives an insight to the environment and the society of a Caribbean society. For instance, in my opinion, competition is high but there is a presence of corruption and an attitude where one does whatever it takes to make it to where they want to get to whether it may be positive or negative methods. Since this behaviour is learnt, individuals especially young ones going through the education system adopts the behaviour and carries it on throughout in the working world and in the society itself.
