In June of 1789 the Third estate told the First and Second that they were no longer the third estate and they were officially changing their name to the National Assembly. Their goal was to pass laws and reform the name of the French people by making a new constitution.

When they got there they killed guards and almost killed the queen. They demanded that the royal family come back to Paris with them. There hope was that King Louis XVI would see how the third estate was being treated and hopefully change things.
