The body shape of sharks varies; some are long like a torpedo, while others are unique like hammerhead sharks with wide heads female sharks are 4,5-5,5 meters long, while males reach 3,5-4,5 meters.

Main Idea: Sharks are known as ocean predators that have a very diverse diet.

Supporting sentece: Most sharks are carnivores, meaning they prey on other animals in the sea. Small sharks usually eat small fish such as sardines, herrings, or mackerels. In addition, they often feed on marine invertebrates such as squids, octopuses, crabs, and shrimps. Larger sharks can hunt bigger marine animals such as seals, sea lions, small dolphins, and even whale carcasses. Not all sharks are fierce predators. Some species feed on plankton, such as whale sharks and basking sharks. These types of sharks do not have large teeth to tear flesh, but instead use their wide mouths to filter plankton, small shrimps, and tiny fish from the seawater. In addition, there are also types of sharks that search for food on the seabed by preying on clams, sea snails, or bottom-dwelling fish such as eels and small rays.
