This influenced his work immensely, due to his realistic detailed paintings and sculptures. He had the details of the human down to the T in his art work: from veins, to bone structure, to well-proportioned bodies and even their their muscles and chiseled out faces.
Michelangelo also included psychological insight in his work. He emphasized the emotional expressions the people in his paintings had.
Another element included in his art was mannerism. Mannerism is when artists elongate and exaggerate the proportion of the human bodies that they paint or sculpt.
His techniques were far more advanced than the average artist during the Renaissance period.

Another significant thing that inspired his art was ancient Roman and Greek art. Just like ancient Roman and Greek art, Michelangelo included themes from the Bible in his artwork. An example of this includes one of his most famous masterpieces--the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, which one part of it tells the story of Jesus, the other of Moses, the Old Testament and the Last Judgement. He was born on March 6th, 1475 to Florentine parents. His family had came from a line of nobility, however down the line they lost status and wealth. His father had gotten multiple government jobs, and also around the time Michelangelo was born, he was was an administrator for Caprese, which is a small town in Italy.

At age 13, he apprenticed the city of Florence's most prominent painter, Domenico Ghirlandio. Later in his life, he was discovered and taken under the wing of the ruler of the city, Lorenzo de' Medici.
Due to the people Lorenzo surrounded himself with, such as skilled artists, intellectuals and the "Medici Art Collection", this later inspired the style of Michelangelo's artwork.

He was a a huge contributor to humanism. Humanism is a Renaissance cultural movement that turned away from medieval scholasticism, and more so into Greek and Roman ideas. If anyone would be the face of humanism, it would definitely be Michelangelo.

His sculpture, 'David', is the Renaissance era ideal of the human body. This masterpiece today is in the entrance of the Palazzo Vecchio and is a symbol of the Florentine Republic and culture.

Both in Rome or Florence, he had a strong influence of artists of the 16th century. Bacchio Bandinelli had tried to rival with Michelangelo's sculptures, 'David' and its grandiosity and the intricate masterpiece, 'Victory'  by creating the statue, ' Hercules and Cacus'. This sculpture was placed as a companion for 'David' in front of the Palazzo Vecchio.

Overall, Michelangelo set the bar high for artists during the Renaissance and whether they were rivals or just inspired artists, Michelangelo made a great impact on art with his ability to create grandiose, influential and iconic masterpieces.

Before this project, I was only familiar with his his artworks of 'David' and 'The Sistine Chapel'. I think doing research on his influence in culture and art expanded my knowledge on Michelangelo's work alone.

The consequences of the groups, more specifically Florentine & Renaissance era artists, was just influence and inspiration from Michelangelo. Mannerism, psychological insight, Biblical themes and realism became more common and popular styles of art that even nowadays everywhere in the world, is now being used in different masterpieces.
