Describe the character/person who changed the most from the beginning of the book to the end of the book

The character that changed the most from the beginning of the book was Eureka. Eureka is heartbroken when her mother dies. It shifts Eureka's life and changed it for the worse. The only people she could count on were her best friends Brooks and Cat. As the book goes on Brooks is overcome by awful mood swings and it causes their relationship to falter. Eureka has no one to turn to and keeps her emotions bottled up. When she was a child the only time her mother ever lashed out on her was when Eureka was crying. Her mother yelled at her to never cry again and slapped her across the face. Since then, Eureka had never cried because that's what she was told to do her whole life. Once she meets Ander, everything changes. He explained to her why she was never allowed to cry and she slowly opens up. She doesn't open up completely to everyone but she begins to trust Ander. On the last few pages in order to save her family she begins to cry for the first time in 17 years to cause a flood and get them to safety. It relieves her of what she had kept inside and opens her up to the people around her.

I was surprised that the author was able to tie so many things in the book together. In the beginning of the book I couldn't see how some of the things talked about were related. Slowly, the character of Ander connected the dots between the questions I had. The parts in the book were tied together with the idea of Atlantis rising up from the ocean. I didn't understand how Eureka not being able to cry affected this though. Near the end of the book it is connected. If Eureka were to cry, it would raise Atlantis and lower everything else underwater. This would kill billions of people. When the author explained this it connected the many things that I thought were random in the book. They weren't random though, and I was surprised with the way things turned out.

Describe a minor character/person in the book who had major importance

A minor character who had a major importance was Madame Blavatsky. This woman plays a big part in the choices and decisions Eureka makes throughout the book. Eureka meets Blavatsky when Eureka needs a special book translated. The book was her mother's, given to Eureka after her mom's death. It was in a strange language and Blavatsky was the only one who could read it. The facts that come out of the book about Atlantis were pivotal to Eureka's story. Without Blavatsky none of the important information needed for the story would have been known. Not only does Blavatsky release important information but she also helps Eureka see that not everyone is a bad guy, and some people just want to help.
