At my campus, 44% received 504, Sped services, or RTI. 3 years later, I became the council inclusion chair. That allowed me to see a lot. We know that it has to come from the top. We need the messaging to be that we are here for solutions, not to fight. We wanted to establish a special education working group.
Copier Report (?) Since June 1, we have 67 parent advocates. We meet every two weeks. We now have an inclusion piece of parents with the board and our sped equity officer. The parent working group has been amazing. We have worked on the RRISD police dept. Seeing the clear data, the board still voted on funding the police department. I think it is necessary to come out of our own biases. The responses were a lot of "I don't see color."
