Música miércoles: Every Wednesday, instead of giving students a regular bellwork for students from the book use a song to engage them.

¡Baile viernes! Just start every period with a short dance to have students move around and get their energy out. (Credit to Mis Clases Locas)
Another hook that I am not sure if anyone has done is
Karaoke. Pick out a song that is not hard to sing and understand and let the kids have fun singing in Spanish.

Mata mosca:
The way I have my students play mata mosca is I write down their Spanish vocabulary words on a piece of paper (usually its behind a fun activity like cross word puzzle, word search, contra el reloj [from tpt]). I have them get into pairs and each student gets out a different colored highlighter. I say the word in Spanish and they are suppose to find the translated word on the paper I provided for them. They have so much fun, and are engaged. (Idea from my mentor, Sra. Ludikhuize)

After I give direct instruction and have students do examples of what I taught I put up a slide with a question pertaining to the material they learned and I have them respond on a post it I provide for them. I love using this because it helps me see which students did not understand it and I can see what I need to review the next day.

Worse Subbing Experience

Two years ago, when I first began student teaching and then started subbing I was blessed with getting the opportunity to take a two week long term. I had Spanish 1, periods 1-6. I was barely starting to get the hang of classroom management and had knowledge of lesson planning but struggles with classroom management. I had a handful of kids that did not like me because I would take phones away and I would send them out for misbehaving. During the middle of the week my keys disappeared and I went crazy, crying trying to look for them. I assumed that these kids had stolen my sub keys. I thought the worse and so I took action and called the principal secretary and she was pretty upset and worried. I then calmed down and took everything out of my bags, the drawers, the trash. I finally found them...in a bucket. >....<
