My name is Lorenzo de’ Medici, and I am proud to serve as your ruler. My family has helped Florence grow into one of the most powerful and beautiful cities in all of Europe. I believe that art, learning, and strong leadership make a city truly great. That is why I have supported talented artists like Botticelli and Michelangelo, who have filled our city with beauty and inspiration. Their paintings and sculptures remind everyone of Florence’s greatness and creativity.

Our family’s wealth from banking has allowed us to build churches, fund schools, and help people learn new ideas. I am proud that the Medici name is known for both power and generosity. I often spend time talking with scholars and poets because I believe knowledge is as important as money.

However, being a ruler is not always peaceful. I have faced enemies like the Pazzi family, who tried to overthrow us and harm our reputation. Even through danger, I stay calm and strong for the good of Florence. I know that leadership is not just about power—it is about earning respect and caring for the people. I try to rule with both wisdom and fairness, because I believe a good leader should be loved, not just feared.

I hope that when people remember my name, they will see a man who brought light, art, and pride to Florence.

meaning: sometimes being strict or feared helps a leader stay in control if it means people don’t like them. martin luther king jr is actually the opposite he led with respect and being nice not fear which shows the quote isn’t for everything.

Nicole Machiavelli is an example as to he suggests  that a ruler should appear to be merciful, faithful, even if they must be the opposite in private to maintain power and achieve their goals.

People can know u as a person by your name,looks or what they heard from other people about you but they don't know your real personality only your really close friends, family but when u start talking to the person for more them few times you’ll get to know them

this means a ruler should use power and fear to keep control because love can fade but fear makes people obey
