On this course, we will be exploring the concept of distributed leadership in schools and how this can shape a school. Distributed leadership is:“a form of shared leadership that is underpinned by a more collective and inclusive philosophy than traditional leadership theory that focuses on skills, traits and behaviours of individual leaders”(Jones, Harvey, Lefoe & Ryland, 2012). We hope you will be able to use the ideas and resources covered on the course to implement a distributed leadership approach at your school. We recommend that you follow this course together with a group of colleagues from your school so that through the process of taking this course you already start implementing some of the ideas behind a distributed leadership approach. Much of the course will also be about reflecting and discussing your current situation and what needs to be done to develop a more distributed leadership approach.     Topic of the Webinar: Making Difficult Parents Engaged Ones

    Difficult parents are known by everybody in the teaching profession. Difficulties come in different forms and sizes. Some seem to be neglecting their children, some overprotecting them, some cannot help in homework, some seem to know everything better. One thing is for sure, experienced school heads agree that they extremely rarely meet a parent who does not want the best for their child. The webinar will explore parental involvement from the parent’s perspective, based on teacher training experience, using a rights-based approach, and will try to offer solutions for engaging rather then involving parents as the most equitable approach to education. Some reference points will be Prof. Joyce Epstein’s Partnership schools, Prof. Ramon Flecha’s Successful Educational Actions and the UNCRC.

Moreover some representive of the parents  take part in  official school meetings and have decisional roles.   Anyway  sometimes we have to deal with  difficult parents and I'm really interested in Prof. Salamon tips. It's  a challenging topic and it would be great to find the way to effectively  collaborate with them. 
    Moreover how can we help the integration of parents with different ethnic values and habits?
