The reason I connected this song with this book was because the main character Stargirl is a wanderer. She goes with the flow and she is unpredictable. The song is mellow and at a soft tempo which represents her warm heart and kindness.

Stargirl Caraway Is a girl who lives in Arizona and has been homeschooled all her life up until her tenth grade year in highschool. She transfered to Mica Highschool and gave the most unforgettable first impression. She plays the ukulele, loves nature, and singing. Stargirl is free spirited and her outfits are not the usual teenage fashion or latest trends. She does what ever she wants even if its strange and shes unapologetic about it. She lives in a small town so a lot of people aren’t used to her behavior and they are a bit standoffish. That doesn’t stop her though, she greets everyone, sings to them on their birthdays, and dances to uplift sprirts. She’s mysterious to her peers and it is hard for her to make friends. The students begin to warm up to her and she starts to become popular. One specific student in general Hillari Kimble tries to make it very challenging for Stargirl to create friendships with people. Although people are not friendly to her at school, their are people who actually admires her but they are too shy to confront her.

Interesting quotes

“I turned to the senior slouching behind me. “Stargirl?” I said. What kind of name is that? “ pg. 4
-This quote is important because it shows Leo's first impression of Stargirl without even seeing what she looked like. her name is so unique that he's already speculating what her appearance might be.

“We had no one to compare her to, no one to measure her against. She was unknown territory. Unsafe. We were afraid to get too close.” pg. 26
- This Is important because it shows how people are afraid of the “new” people are afraid of the unknown and the mysterious. I liked this quote because it not only depicts what was going on in that specific high school but this also happens all over the world. People are judged by The type of music they like, the clothes that they wear, and even if they don't follow the latest trends.

"Girls liked her. Boys liked her. And---most remarkable-- the attention came from All Kinds of Kids shy mice and princesses, jock and eggheads." pg. 38
-She was able to inspire different groups of people. You have to be really special to touch the heart or the mind of a lot of different people.

I'd rate this book a 4/5. I like that fact that the author showed her good qualities and also showed how that they weren't always good. I can relate to that and i'm sure a lot of people can. I also like that he wrote it in first person narrative. One thing i didn't like was that I felt the story was a bit rushed. I would've loved if it was longer.

Yes, I would recommend this book. I'd mostly recommend this book for preteens just because the characters are close to their age. This book could really be for everyone though because it has some valuable lessons and strong themes. I find my self struggling to finish books but this was a book I hardly ever put down. Overall its a good story and it send a good message to our youth. Its one of those books where it might not be your favorite but its one that your'll always reference to.
