Hi, my name is Nur Affrina Bt Mohamad Arshad A169464.
Today is the second of August 2021,
My first week of elective posting, I have went through the course readings and lectures.
Things I had learned from week 1 were, prophet Muhammad was the final messenger from Allah and there were five pillars of Islam. The early muslim leaders had expand borders of Islam to Spain, Central south Asia, Africa and even East Europe. Muslim traders, scholars, poets, rulers, architects, physiology all are contributed to the shaping of Islamic nations interacted with local communities. Like other religions, Islam too has been invoked to support and legitimise diverse, for example interpretations of Islam have been used to promote peace.
The Quran means recitation and served as a scripture that was meants to be recited, listened and expressed. It was compiled into a written text after Prophet Muhammad passed away. It is helpful to think Islam in terms of both unity and diversity. The single most important text in Islam is the Quran, that was interpreted in diverse ways and for diverse purposes and as muslim community that was diversified through cultural contexts, beliefs and practices.

My feelings and thoughts through the course was I feel happy and delightful to learn more. Since it was Movement Control Order (MCO) and semester break, I could give my best for my elective posting.
One good thing that I learnt from the course was to read Quran as a whole by definition and understanding.

My only difficulty for my elective posting was the internet connection was slow at my house area. However, I can cope with that because not all the time the internet was slow, so I will change my schedule for my elective posting and that was okay :)

My progression so far was delightful in progress

My plan for week 2 is to continue my course in Islamic and its scriptures and stay tune for my next video :)

EP week 1 (10/7/2021 - 11/7/2021)

Irdina Farhah Binti Azizul (A167828)

I joined a programme organized by Pondok Modern Darussyafie, Seri Iskandar Perak which started on 10th of Julai 2021. The programme called "Pondok talaqqi online Darussyafie" is a programme that offer its participants basic knowledge of Islam (Fardhu Ain) including akidah, fiqh and tasawuf.

Online classes were conducted via google meet from 10am until 1pm monday to friday, which will be thought by qualified ustaz and ustazah. The knowledge is thought using talaqqi and sanad system, talaqqi means students learn from the teacher via face to face. While sanad means that the knowledge continues and passes from the teacher to students, than the teacher got it from his/her previous teacher and continues until lastly to our prophet Muhammad.

Points to remember during week one is that, talaqqi and sanad is the safest, secure, and right way to learn islamic knowledge. Without sanad, everyone will talk whatever they want about islam. Prophet Muhammad once said:

إنما العلم بالتعلم والفقه بالتفقه

Knowledge is by learning and jurisprudence is by understanding

At-ta'allum here means face to face between student and teacher which is the meaning of talaqqi as what i mentioned above.

I feel so grateful and happy to be in this programme as i am able to acquire knowledge about islam with my friends and other participants in a right way. I realised that taking islamic knowledge is not just by reading books/ google, but the ONLY right way to learn islam is by having a trusted teacher(who takes knowledge from talaqqi and sanad way). Even in dunia matter such as medical field, people will not trust someone who just acquire knowledge through google/youtube, same goes to religion. Therefore, from now on, i will find trusted teacher for islamic inquiries.

We started the EP a little bit early than everyone else. It supposed to be after exam week, however there were some problems which the exams been postpone, making the EP and exam in the same week. I would say that having EP and exams in the same week make my focus on EP lesser. However i am glad that the organizer understands and prepare recorded session whenever i cant attend. Therefore, i planned my time which i study for exams in the morning, and open the recorded session in evening. By doing this way, i can balance both my study for exams and my EP.

So far my EP is interesting and relaxing! Hearing to majlis ilmu calms my heart and make me happy.

Next week (week2) would be after exams so i hope that i can focus more to my EP and make notes on what i learn.

Thank you

In week 1, I was exposed to what is sanad and talaqqi as well as learning from whom my teacher received her sanad al-Quran. This is important so that I know the lineage of the sanad I will be receiving.

Points to remember from week 1!

A take home message that I remember the most is the importance of sanad inheritance of talaqqi al-Quran. The authenticity of sanad al-Quran must be guarded and preserved in every age. Anyone who wishes to get sanad al-Quran must first make sure that the teacher is someone who takes care of his/her religion and knowledge as well as has a valid sanad.

Your feelings & thoughts

For this project, I’m overwhelmed as I have always wanted to receive sanad al-Quran since long ago. I am excited and looking forward to the next classes.

1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

1 thing that I can start practicing from now on is that whenever I am in search of any kind of knowledge, what more if it is Islamic or quranic studies, I must always learn from a teacher who took the knowledge from sanad and talaqqi way.

Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

My current concern is if I'm able to complete the 30 juz in sanad and talaqqi way. However, I believe all I need to face this is to stay motivated and disciplined and in shaa Allah, I will be able to finish it within the time given.

2 words to describe elective posting progress so far

My progress for my elective posting so far is smooth sailing. It was interesting and definitely exciting!

Your plan for next week (Week 2)

My scheduled plan for week 2 is to learn and expert in pronouncing alphabets in the al-Quran (makhraj & sifaat).

Throughout this week, I have learnt the basic of learning sign language including use finger spelling to spell alphabet (abc), number (0-10) and color. So I was able to fingerspell people’s name, address and object. Next, I have learnt to greet people subjected to the suitable time and places and able to tell about age and birth date.

I felt very happy and excited as i can learn something new and benefit to myself as well to the community. And that amazing feeling when i imagine myself can converse in these languages and connect with deaf person.

My concerns is sometimes I got confused with the sign of alphabets and basic signs in greetings such as good morning, good afternoon and good night. There were also many unfamiliarised sign that made the learning to be more difficult. I should have rewatched the videos to make sure I mastered it completely.

2 words to describe my posting so far is interesting and beneficial.

I hope i can improve myself to be able to talk fluently in sign language by practicing a lot and challenges myself to learn more difficult level.

Hi I am Abdul Hasim Bin Abdul Ghani, A168343. I have started my elective posting since 10 June 2021, and for sure had completed the whole course by today. Since everything were held online thus I recorded the whole lectures and class session to ensure I will not miss out any important notes, so I could rewatch class for better understanding. Since I was in Collage since then, so it is easier for me to watch online and of course attending class without any obstacles especially connections issue. To be honest along the first week it was so hard and busy, I could not expect our final examination to be delayed until the same week as my elective posting. Thus I have difficulty in managing my time to study for final and attend class. Since this semester we are overwhelmed with almost all online learning thus it is so tiring, at some point I just barely learn for myself. I try to contact my teacher and asked for recording since I cannot attend the class for a week. He was so nice to keep me updated and always send me the link for recording classes. 2 words to describe my progress so far is hard work and patience, there is no such things of happiness before difficulty. So my plan for week 2 is to ensure attending as most classes and try to rewatched classes as many as I can because 1 thing that my teachers told me, “there will be a better understanding for the next repetition of reading”.

EP WEEK 1
Sharain bt Zulkfli (A168153)

Salam and hi everyone. Im currently learning khat calligraphy.

Ive started learning khat calligraphy on June 30. Before the class began, I was briefed on the materials needed which were khat pen and A4 glossy paper. In week 1, I only got the chance to learn the skill to stroke few signs and basic 9 alphabets which were alif, 2 ba, mim, ya, kof, sod, ha and ain. Too bad, because I am a beginner, I need to learn from the scratch which took a longer time to master the skill.

Throughout the journey, I just knew that there are many types of khat pen; some are made from stick. Each of them also has different size of tip. Other than that, I learnt that each khat alphabet has its own degree and angle which were not easy to be stroked as I thought.

I think, learning khat is kind of challenging for me. This is because it needs a good hand skill just to create a simple letter. Frankly speaking, I was born with bad handwriting.

One good thing I learnt is to be patient. By learning khat calligraphy, it taught me to be more patient as I took plenty of times to loosen my stiff fingers just to get the best handwriting.

One of the difficulties I am currently facing is the tutor is so strict and precise. He always instruct me to repeat the same letter just because I slightly missed FEW angles. Anyhow, because I love challenges, I practise for about 2 hours a day until he satisfied with my handwriting.

2 words to describe my progress are fascinating and energising.

My next plan is to learn another 12 letters and to practise more to have a good handwriting.

Name: Ulyssies Bin Suderman
Matric number: A168206

Hello everyone. For my elective posting, I have decided to improve my drawing skills and transition to digital art. I have always been interested in drawing since I was a kid but unfortunately my skills have not improved in years. I have recently bought an iPad and the Procreate app to reach my goal.

For my first week of this project, I watched videos from SkillShare.com and from my favourite art Youtubers to familiarise myself with the Procreate app and also digital art in general. After getting the basics done, I started to draw my first portrait for this project. I used a picture as reference and drew according to what I have learned and also from my past experience from years of drawing.

Drawing the portrait digitally was quite difficult than I imagined. There were so many tools and functions that I had to watch lots of videos to get the hang of them. Sketching was simple enough but I struggled shading, colouring and highlighting the drawing. It made me frustrated a lot of time especially because of all the overwhelming functions. However, after taking some rest to clear my head, I was able to complete the drawing. It’s not perfect but I think with time, I could improve it.

Two words to describe my elective posting is “buta IT”. I thought I was competent with my knowledge in IT but digital art made me realise I am still lacking and need some time to get used to them.

For next week, I plan to further acquaint myself with all the tools of the app and also practice on shading since it took quite a lot of my time. I hope with this, I can improve my art and my skills.

However, I am unable to list all of them here even though I want the one who read this also to get the same benefit or even more!
From tasawwuf classes, Ustaz Alif shares with us that among the obligations of the heart is to regret sinning.
One should immediately repent from sinning whether that sin was a small sin or a big sin. One should regret having committed that sin such as lying or gossiping because the person disobeyed the Creator.

One repents by regretting having sinned, stopping doing the sin, and intending never to do it again. If the sin involved leaving out an obligation (such as Solat Fardhu), one has to make it up. If the sin involved a right to a human, one must also satisfy it or seek the person’s satisfaction.

Your feelings & thoughts

(I write this as a reminder for me every time I read it again)

In a time of lockdown and health risks, we are reminded to work for our Hereafter, for with every day that passes, we are one day closer to the ultimate judgment. Each breath that passes, will not return. Think wisely about how you are spending your minutes. I remind myself to commit to best practice and worship today and thereafter. Many spend years and years of their life on learning a particular knowledge to find employment or get a higher salary. But unfortunately, they do not spend a fraction of that time acquiring the knowledge which they need to be saved in their Hereafter. The Prophet, peace be upon him, guided us to the best of all knowledge. We should be keen on learning it and applying its teachings.

Having this kind of class is super important where Ustaz & Ustazah always give some advice that is useful for Dunya and Akhirah.

One good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

Patience!

Three Types of Patience (Sabr)

One should be patient in performing the obligations, patient in refraining from committing sins, and patient when inflicted with calamities

Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

This week is also the examination week for year 3. Alhamdulillah, this does not bother my schedule that much because the classes only take 3 hours where the rest of my time I can use to revise for the exam. Since I was in college, I'm not having any Internet problems and was able to attend classes smoothly. Alhamdulillah.

2 words to describe elective posting progress so far Istiqomah(Steadfastness) & Gratitude

Your plan for next week (Week 2)

Attend and be prepared for the next classes. Do murojaah(revision), watch the recorded videos, and make notes based on them for a better understanding of the knowledge.

O Allah, adorn us with knowledge and beautify us with patience.

Name : Nur Ailen Binti Abu Bakar

Matric number : A168184

Date : 10th June - 18th June 2021

What have you done?

For my elective posting, I joined an online course programme called ‘Pondok Talaqq Online’ organised by Pondok Modern Darussyafie, Seri Iskandar Perak. It was done every Monday till Friday for one month started from 10th June to 10th July 2021. This course provides and enhances participants with basic knowledge of Islam (Fardhu Ain), including Akidah, Fiqh, and Tasawuf.

I attended the classes via google meet from 10 am until 1 pm Monday to Friday using Kitab Mukhtasar Abdillah Al-Haroriy Al-Kafila Bi ‘ilmiddin adh-Dharuri.

Points to remember

Lessons to learn from my first week of elective posting are that it is our obligation and compulsory to understand entirely and enhance the basic knowledge of Islam as Muslims. To do that precisely, it is vital to ensure that we learned via the sanad and talaqqi system and ensure the teachers are among the trusted lecturers and have valid sanad.

Feelings & thoughts

I was delighted and grateful as I took this course as my elective posting with some of my friends and I learnt a lot from this course.

One good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

One good thing I can practice is that whenever we are sought to learn something, we grasp it in a precise way.

Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

Since my first week of EP overlapped with my exams, I come out with my schedule and class recording.

Two words to describe elective posting progress so far

Knowledgeable, interesting

Plan for next week (Week 2)

Prepare, and attend for the next week of class
