Personally, this course has opened my mind and shown me how important these concepts are. Along with the amount of behind the scenes work required to run such an advanced machine as a humanly based operation.

Understanding overtime, compensation pay, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and similar laws can be a lot of information to wrap your head around. In this assignment, we were given the opportunity to decide whether the wage was legal/illegal given each scenario. I appreciated this feedback most because in many of the scenarios I could not make a decision. Having practice and the ability to discuss reasoning made learning these lessons easier and more efficient.

Contrary to popular belief, there is a lot of preparation, research, and resources that go into training employees. Everything from a time frame, budget, manager, safety regulations, report cards, designing, following, implementing training exercises then follow ups all need to be recorded and tested for success. Often corporations rely on outside professionals to train employees. Managers are responsible for understanding and following up with employees to discuss training, current work ethic and address various problems. There are all components of creating a successful work environment supported by HR demands.
