Lithuanian people really love basketball. Some people call basketball  the second religion in Lithuania.

It consists of beet sour or beet juice blended with sour cream, buttermilk, soured milk, kefir or yogurt. The mixture has a distinctive pink or magenta color. It is served refrigerated, typically over finely chopped beetroot, cucumbers, radishes and green onion, together with halves of a hard-boiled egg and sprinkled with fresh dill. Chopped veal, ham, or crawfish tails may be added as well. In Lithuanian we call it šaltibarščiai.

Made from grated and riced potatoes and stuffed with ground meat After boiling, the cepelinai are often served with sour cream sauce and bacon bits or pork rinds. In Lithuanian we call it cepelinai or didžkukuliai. 

Lithuanian uses the Latin script supplemented with diacritics. It has 32 letters. In the collation order, y follows immediately after į, both y and į represent the same long vowel.

Lithuanian language is called one of the hardest languages to learn. 

In the Middle Ages horses were scared of/by/from the reflection of black cats’ eyes at night.  For this reason, people thought that black cats represented Evil by their reflection.  Following this belief, today people think that black cats are a synonym of bad luck.

In Italy, in the province of Vicenza, there is an old traditional. Every weekend in the September people dress up on the pawns of the chessboard to play a game of chess with living characters.

 

 

 

Made from red lentils, fine bulgur, salt, finely chopped onion, scallions, tomato and aci biber salca (hot red pepper paste) and crushed cilantro, they come in handy bite-sized servings.

Just pop one of these nuggets of flavor onto a lettuce leaf, add a squeeze of lemon juice, roll it up and munch away.

Apparently a gentleman of the same name first cooked this dish for workers in the city's Kayhan Bazaar back in 1867.

Thin slices of doner meat are reverently laid over pieces of plump pide bread, smothered in freshly made tomato sauce, baptized with a dash of sizzling melted butter and served with a portion of tangy yoghurt, grilled tomato and green peppers.
